a short presentation on technical writing used during an onsite training brief .... participants looked through software, instructional design, and other structured text for reference during this hands on exercise
This is a presentation I delivered at SIDLIT one year on creating engaging and supportive visuals for presentations. It might not make a lot of sense unless you read the slide notes. Also ---- slideshare has a tendency to truncate my presentations for some reason... I am not sure why....

Mass Torts Update for Plaintiff Attorneys with John RayLarry Bodine
For lawyers starting a Mass Torts practice, picking the right cases and having an effective law firm marketing campaign are essential. Our presenter John Ray will update plaintiff attorneys about 5 key Mass Torts:
New Pradaxa docket in Connecticut
IVC Filter
Xarelto
Fluoroquinolone antibiotics
Emerging: Roundup litigation
A Mass Tort is ordinarily a product liability case where hundreds of plaintiffs file suit against a pharmaceutical company. These cases are typically collected into one of 300 federal multi-district litigation dockets (MDLs).
Mass Torts is a multi-billion dollar immature market, with economies of scale and only a single barrier to entry. You have already overcome the barrier if you are admitted to practice law.
About our presenter
John Ray has been a leading consultant to the Mass Tort attorneys for more than a decade. His unique skill sets make him well suited to both teaching and consulting in the Mass Tort arena.
This document discusses social choice theory and group decision making. It covers topics like voting procedures, properties of voting systems, and impossibility theorems. Plurality voting is introduced as the simplest voting method where candidates are ranked first. Condorcet's paradox shows that no voting system can satisfy all voters. Arrow's theorem states that no voting system can satisfy certain desirable and reasonable criteria. Gibbard-Satterthwaite's theorem suggests that any voting system can be manipulated.
Marketing to Millennials and the Significant ROI They Can Bring Your FirmLarry Bodine
Marketing to the Millennials doesn't have to be mysterious. Law firms can no longer afford to overlook or avoid marketing to this often-misunderstood generation. There's real ROI tied to knowing this audience – and now you can discover how to understand and reach them.
Millennials surpassed Baby Boomers as America's largest generation in 2016. The easiest way for a law firm to fail is to NOT understand Millennials, NOT find ways to be relevant or engage to them, and NOT to adapt to their new expectations. They are the largest spending cohort in the US, and they are retaining attorneys.
"Law firms and marketers need to shift and adapt to this reality, instead of waiting for one that won't come true,” says Katie Elfering, a CEB Iconoculture consumer strategist and Forbes' resident expert on Millennials.
What you will discover
- How Millennials search for attorneys.
- How to appeal to this generation, now in their mid-30s and buying cars, homes and insurance.
- What Millennials care about.
- Creating brand messaging to appeal to Digital Natives.
- How today's generation makes purchase decisions.
Our Millennial Presenters from Network Affiliates:
- Emily Frickey, Director of Digital Operations
- Alex Dodge, Account Director
- Kate Stromberg, Marketing Director
An introductory-to-mid level to presentation to complex network analysis: network metrics, analysis of online social networks, approximated algorithms, memorization issues, storage.

The document discusses properties in Python classes. Properties allow accessing attributes through normal attribute syntax, while allowing custom behavior through getter and setter methods. This avoids directly accessing attributes and allows for validation in setters. Properties are defined using the @property and @setter decorators, providing a cleaner syntax than regular getter/setter methods. They behave like regular attributes but allow underlying method calls.

- Consistent formatting, readable fonts, and complimentary colors improve visuals.
- Animation and media should emphasize important points without distracting from the content.
- Effective slides balance different elements so no one part overpowers the others.
HICap talk is to inform others of the necessary steps in creating a website and understanding the importance of UI (User Interface) + UX (User Experience) design.
These steps may seem tedious, but as you dive into the design or even the development stage, you’ll quickly find out that this process will help to diminish problems that could occur down the road.

Ch 1 Introduction to User Interaction Design Mary MargaratMary Margarat
Interaction design involves four key activities: identifying user needs, developing alternative designs, building interactive prototypes, and evaluating designs. The core goals of interaction design are to create products that are effective, efficient, safe, easy to learn and remember how to use. The interaction design process is iterative, with users involved throughout to provide feedback on designs. Key principles like usability and user experience must be considered during the design and development process.

Rethinking Kållered │ From Big Box to a Reuse Hub: A Transformation Journey ...SirmaDuztepeliler
"Rethinking Kållered │ From Big Box to a Reuse Hub: A Transformation Journey Toward Sustainability"
The booklet of my master’s thesis at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. (Gothenburg, Sweden)
This thesis explores the transformation of the vacated (2023) IKEA store in Kållered, Sweden, into a "Reuse Hub" addressing various user types. The project aims to create a model for circular and sustainable economic practices that promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, and a shift in societal overconsumption patterns.
Reuse, though crucial in the circular economy, is one of the least studied areas. Most materials with reuse potential, especially in the construction sector, are recycled (downcycled), causing a greater loss of resources and energy. My project addresses barriers to reuse, such as difficult access to materials, storage, and logistics issues.
Aims:
• Enhancing Access to Reclaimed Materials: Creating a hub for reclaimed construction materials for both institutional and individual needs.
• Promoting Circular Economy: Showcasing the potential and variety of reusable materials and how they can drive a circular economy.
• Fostering Community Engagement: Developing spaces for social interaction around reuse-focused stores and workshops.
• Raising Awareness: Transforming a former consumerist symbol into a center for circular practices.
Highlights:
• The project emphasizes cross-sector collaboration with producers and wholesalers to repurpose surplus materials before they enter the recycling phase.
• This project can serve as a prototype for reusing many idle commercial buildings in different scales and sizes.
• The findings indicate that transforming large vacant properties can support sustainable practices and present an economically attractive business model with high social returns at the same time.
• It highlights the potential of how sustainable practices in the construction sector can drive societal change.
