This document compares and contrasts the carnivals celebrated in Ecuador and Brazil. The Ecuadorian carnival is celebrated across the country with parades, floats of flowers/fruits, games, dancing and food. It sometimes features national music and is often held in the streets of cities like Guaranda and Ambato. In contrast, the famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil features samba school parades in the Sambadrome stadium and the music is always samba, axé or frevo. While Ecuador celebrates with water and foam, Brazil's carnival involves more alcohol and the parades are at night, featuring fireworks.
