2. LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF
Hi! My name is Red! I was
born on July 25th in Manaus,
Amazonas, Brazil. When I
was a baby, I wasn’t very
handsome. It took me 6
months to grow all of my
feathers and almost 2 years
for my beautiful colors to
show.
3. MY FAMILY
My mother’s name is Carlota.
My father’s name is Ernesto.
Here I am with my three brothers and
one sister. Can you tell which one is
me?
4. MY HOME
● The Amazon rainforest is the largest
tropical rainforest in the world, covering
over five and a half a million square
kilometres (1.4 billion acres).
● Over half of the Amazon rainforest is
located in Brazil but it is also located in
other South American countries including
Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia,
Guyana, Bolivia, Suriname and French
Guiana.
● 10% of the world’s known species live in
the Amazon rainforest.
● 20% of the world’s bird species live in the
Amazon rainforest.
● It is home to around 2 and a half million
different insect species as well as over
40000 plant species.
● There are also a number of dangerous
species living in the Amazon rainforest
such as the cougar, jaguar and anaconda.
5. DAILY ROUTINES
In the morning I always eat a good breakfast: fruits and seeds. ( sometimes
even a Cupuaçu milkshake!)
6. I LIKE...
I like to ride my bicycle
everywhere: to school, to the
store, to my friend’s house.
On my 7th birthday, my
parents bought me a new
bicycle. It was my favourite
color...RED!
8. TRAVEL
I really love living in
the rainforest, but
whenever I can, I go on
holiday to the
BEACH!!
Here is a selfie!
9. CAREER… in the beginning
I used to be a model. Everyone told me, “I was a natural!”
10. MODELING
I am sure you have seen my picture everywhere: on mugs,
necklaces, keychains, postcards, etc.
11. MOVIES
I went to a big movie set for a film called Rio!!!!
No….that is not me. That is my brother, Felipe. He is a great actor!
12. CAREER...a wise choice
I have always been very active and I
love sports, especially football.
I decided that I wanted to be a
sports journalist.
So I immediately enrolled at
Universidade Federal Do Amazonas in
Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil.
13. Arena da Amazônia
Only 15 minutes away from UFAM, you can watch a World Cup
match at the Arena da Amazonia. The stadium is located at the
heart of the Amazon rainforest. It looks like a straw basket, a
product the region is famous for.
This stadium is very “GREEN” and plays its part in helping to
preserve the diversity of the Amazonian rainforest. For example,
rainwater will be collected and used in toilets or to water the pitch,
while the region’s abundant supply of sunshine will be harnessed
to generate clean and renewable energy. Plant screens will also be
created to keep energy costs down and, above all, to control
temperatures inside the stadiums.
14. HARD AT WORK
I enjoy working hard and travelling, so reporting events from the FIFA World Cup 2014 matches was a
dream job. I have visited all of the stadiums and sent postcards, pictures, posters and information from
each city to my 2nd Grade friends. I hope you have learned as much as I have.
15. GOODBYE FOR NOW…..
Have a wonderful time
over the winter
holidays.
Don’t forget to bring
me back a
POSTCARD!
LOVE,
RED
