Overview and Purpose:
The purpose of this digital game-based learning is to learn about being independent and learning at your own
pace. This provides an understanding of these categories: challenge, fantasy, curiosity, and control. It also
provides motivation through intentions that absorbs something new.

   ● This lesson addresses the importance of achieving goals.
   ● This lesson addresses the importance of a global perspective.
Objectives:
Specify skills/information that will be learned

   ●   Students will be able to describe motivation
   ●   Students will be able to identify and assess challenge
   ●   Students will be able to identify and assess fantasy
   ●   Students will be able to identify and assess curiosity
   ●   Students will be able to identify and assess control.
   ●   Students will be able to build up self-esteem.

   ● Stylus for iPad
   ● Download apps “We Rule Quest”
   ● Charger for your device

Information:
Give and/or demonstration necessary information

   1. In order to play this game, parents need to download “We Rule Quest” apps
   2. Parents need to sign up for an iTunes account if they don’t have one.
   3. Parents cannot give the password to their children.


Verification:
Steps to check for student understanding
1. Ask reflection questions in regards to the student’s understanding about how they perceived the lesson.
      Theye will then write a one-paragraph reflection and present it to their peers.
   2. If the learning outcome were not achieved, the teacher needs to revisit the lesson in a different
      approach.
   3. Based on the student’s learning style, the teacher will provide an effective, within reason, to encourage
      motivation and self-esteem.

Activity:
Describe activity that will reinforce the lesson

   1. The students will play the game each day for two hours for one week (Monday through Sunday) until
      they reach level ten (10).
   2. Students will share their username and add their classmate’s name to their social friends list.
   3. Students will add my username “vange62” to their social friends list.
   4. Students will share their first experience of playing the game and the level they achieved.
   5. Students will write a reflection paper describing factors and assess the terms challenge, fantasy,
      curiosity, and control.
   6. Students will submit a reflection paper the following Tuesday.

Notes

Through homework assignments, the students will demonstrate whether they absorbed the lesson objectives.

An iPod touch is available to check out from the library for the week of the assignment if a student does not
have their own.
