Technology is great for many things, including searching for and tracking health information. But one thing it is not always great for is keeping information private. Hackers, corporations, schools, and others too often gain illegitimate access to sensitive information. But does it have to be that way? This talk will look at some of the legal and policy approaches to ensuring that health technology respects privacy. We'll look at the kind of information that these services may generate or collect, and the various ways this information is currently protected. We will also look at the gaps in this protection, and talk about what we each can do to push for better protection, so that we don't have to choose between health, technology, and privacy.
