Data Workflows for Machine Learning - Seattle DAMLPaco Nathan
First public meetup at Twitter Seattle, for Seattle DAML:

We compare/contrast several open source frameworks which have emerged for Machine Learning workflows, including KNIME, IPython Notebook and related Py libraries, Cascading, Cascalog, Scalding, Summingbird, Spark/MLbase, MBrace on .NET, etc. The analysis develops several points for "best of breed" and what features would be great to see across the board for many frameworks... leading up to a "scorecard" to help evaluate different alternatives. We also review the PMML standard for migrating predictive models, e.g., from SAS to Hadoop.

No matter your preference for OOXML, ODF, or PDF … the document standard requirements are going to become a fact of life for users of IBM Lotus Notes & IBM Lotus Domino in the next year. This sessoin will review the technical capabilities of all three formats and how they work with Lotus Software. We will check the format debate at the door and look at which format will provide you the functionality you need. We will then look at how you can generate all three documents from your applications using third-party tools and custom code. You will take home samples that allow you to export Lotus Notes data to OOXML, ODF, and PDF in LotusScript and Java – be prepared for a deep dive into code!

From optimising the process, via UX and design all the way to performance, this talk covers possible tweaks and recommendations with some practical examples to improve the overall experience of our products.
Stream SQL eventflow visual programming for real programmers presentationstreambase
Richard Tibbetts, CTO, StreamBase Systems.
StreamSQL EventFlow is one of the most popular languages for Complex Event Processing (CEP), a data management paradigm for real-time applications. Based on a stream-relational data model common to other CEP languages, EventFlow is unique in that it is a visual language. This talk will focus on the design of visual representations for key features including event dispatch, modularity, data parallelism, polymorphism, and dependency injection, and on the co-development of an Eclipse-based IDE along with a new programming language. StreamSQL EventFlow is the primary programming language for the StreamBase Event Processing Platform.
Complex Event Processing platforms are used to process large volumes of event-oriented data in real-time, often in latency-critical applications such as securities trading. Combining clustering, messaging, queuing, data storage, and application logic into one system minimizes latency and gives the programmer control over all aspects of the application.
StreamSQL EventFlow is an executable visual language for building CEP applications, unlike visual environments designed for non-developers, or architecture-focused modeling tools. The talk will cover experiences overcoming prejudice against visual programming languages, and how critical development tools are to that process. We will also discuss some details of the implementation including the compiler, a visual debugger, and diff/merge functionality.
Identify Spread Sheet, Word Processing and Presentation software features. Identify Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) systems that support those features. Compare and contrast features of FOSS and Proprietary software systems. Prepare a presentation to deliver information in an effective manner.
GIS & Data Integration with ArcGIS and FME: Unleashing the Potential of Data-...Safe Software
Join us for an exclusive webinar hosted by Safe Software and Esri's Bruce Harold, where we will explore the powerful combination of GIS and data integration technology. Discover how ArcGIS Pro and FME work together seamlessly to ease the creation of innovative solutions without difficulty.
Bruce will showcase possibilities of what you can achieve through various integration demos, some inspired by his community space blog series “Building a Data Driven Organization”. In addition to further diving into examples from this series, Bruce will release new demos live during this webinar using ArcGIS Data Interoperability extension inside ArcGIS Pro 3.1.1, the current release. These demos will include working with the following:
- Working in ArcGIS Pro: Learn why designing your ETL inside your GIS makes sense, because map and schema behaviours matter.
- Web Tools: Discover how ArcGIS Enterprise geoprocessing services that communicate in EsriJSON can extend your ETL reach.
- Web Integrations: Leverage no-code web API calls, like routing services in your ETL workflows.
- Custom Formats: Build and share format conversion tools as custom formats, including if they require custom logic.
Take advantage of this unique webinar that will expand your understanding of harmonizing GIS and data integration technology. Reserve your spot now to gain actionable insights and inspiration, unlocking the full potential of your data landscape.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
