Teachers are like construction workers in the sense if they went on strike, you and the rest of the public would pay closer attention to. I would dread the day where all of the construction workers went on strike during a summer in Michigan. If you have lived in the state of Michigan you know how heavy the streets can get in construction. It would just pile up and pile up I take this as a metaphor for teachers because every year there are more children than the year before.
The birth rate has quadrupled over the past 50 years, and it seems like every year there are more and more projects on the highways. I guess what I’m really trying to get at is that teachers are often overlooked, and rarely acknowledged.
You could also say that teachers are like the offensive linemen on a football team but for society. For anyone who has fallowed football for a decent amount of time, you would know that the offensive lineman is the building block of the team. Without them the team would collapse, but yet they so seldomly get recognized in the long detailed highlights of ESPN after the game. Without the teachers in America, we would slowly deteriorate from the inside out, no young minds no future.
Think of the profession as a foundation for the futures of there cities, states, and even countries. The better the teacher the more progression is accomplished. If we one day can think of humans as a team then you will then know that Education is where the root of all our knowledge originates.
