Jane Goodall was born in London, England in 1947. She graduated from high school in 1978 and took a trip to Africa that sparked her interest in primatology. Goodall went on to study chimpanzees in Tanzania in 1960 and is famous for her pioneering work with chimpanzee families. She overcame obstacles when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and her husband was diagnosed with leukemia. Goodall is still alive today and continues her conservation efforts to protect chimpanzees and their habitats.
