Roberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican baseball player born in 1934 who played his entire career for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was known for his hitting abilities and earned 12 Gold Glove Awards. Clemente was committed to humanitarian work and died in a plane crash in 1972 while attempting to deliver aid to victims of an earthquake in Nicaragua.
