Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Task 7
1. Rock
More considered as a way of life, rock music as a genre has been one of
the most predominant music choices of the last few decades. Rock is
now what could be compared to as an umbrella term, this is because it
has given berth to many different types of music such as punk, heavy
metal esc.The reason rock has stayed around for so long is varied
however there are things such as the religious use of drums and guitars
andTHE the ‘bad boy look’ which are almost a trade mark which many
people love. For many rock bands as well as their fans there is always an
expectation of grate music along with an almost crazy performance
creating an entranced atmosphere. This inevitably means fans would
rather see rock bands live however, they can still achieve this trough
their music vides. Rock has always challenged the conservative norms of
society things like leather jackets, Mohawks, big boots, men wearing
makeup are just some of the things that rock introduced in to society and
for a time made them a mainstream thing to wear. Rock for many people
however, is a very outdated choice of music and something that is now
associated by society as something for middle aged men.
On the surface this may have some truth but if you only dig a little
deeper it is obvious that there is still a booming demand for this genre of
music. In every city around the UK there are countless clubs, bars and
pubs that are all dedicated to enjoying the craze that is Rock. Many
young bands such as awakening Hyperea and Uks lowest are just two of
the many thousands of budding young rock bands that seem to appear
daily.
2. Pop
Pop like rock is another grate genre that has (epically since the 2000s)
taken over and been driven into new many types of music. At this
moment in time pop (which arguably came out of hip hop) is ruling the
charts. The style of pop is what could be describes as very mainstream
and something for everyone. It is a genre mostly concerned with
image and the sex-appeal of the artist, male or female. Many other
genres are overwhelmed with the amount of male artists. The pop
genre however has opened up much more to women and the majority
of female artists easily matches the amount of men who are also in the
pop industry.Artists such asTyler swift, Adel and Katie Perry are just
some of the must successful in the business. Pop (just like other
genres) has an expectation to deliver an atmosphere with their music.
For pop the atmosphere is defiantly happiness and and joy, something
that people for all ages can enjoy and sing along to.These songs will
also have little to so swearwords as they are many produced for the
radio. If the songs do contain swearwords then more often than not
the artist will produce a ‘radio edit’ so that it is allowed to appear on
the radio. The love for pop in the Uk and America is very strong and it
could be argued that pop is the genre of the 21 century just as rock was
in the 50s and 60s.The songs that are written and produced in the pop
genre are usually very relatable this is because the artists wat the
listeners to have an instant connection to the sons so that they will buy
the tracks and get them to number one. This however usually falls to
stereotypes for the artists to get inspiration which creates an amount
of predigest against one group of people.
3. Hip-hop
Hip hop is a genre of music that is very big in America. In resent years it
has taken over most of the charts for pop and is only getting more and
more popular. Mostly associated with gangs it has a very gangster
persona surrounding it artists from this genre have embraced this and
see it as a very popular marketing tool. They live the lifestyle of pimp
and gangsters smoking weed and always having 10s of attractive
women around them. Although this could be seen as sexist this is
simply what the listeners have come to expect with hop-hop. Hip-hop
itself is a very very male dominated genre although there are a few
stand out female artists that take on the exact same persona as the
men and simply swap the sexes around. Nicki Minaj is an extremely
popular artists and is arguably the most successful female artist in the
hip-hop genre. The proffered dress code for hip-hop is completely
varied most of the time the artists will dress in their own brand of
cloths, they can also to be seen wearing suits and smart dress to try
and look like the stereotypical 60s British gangster. One stereotype is
that all hip-hop artists are black which although most are is defiantly
not true. Eminem is an extremely popular hip-hop rapper who features
in many hundreds of songs and music videos in this genre. Many of the
songs that come out of the genre talk about he problems that the
artists have experienced in there lives. As most artists come from the
‘hood’ where the poverty is very bad, tis is often the focus of songs and
seem to be extremely popular.
