My magazine will target an alternative audience. Q magazine, which focuses on alternative music, has been published since 1986 by different companies. Currently, Bauer Media Group publishes Q magazine and they would make a suitable publisher for my alternative music magazine because they have experience targeting the same alternative audience through other magazines.

Make a decision on which sub-genre magazine you will produce belongs to. Research into a specific
music magazine that links in some way to your chosen sub-genre and find out who publishes it. Do
research into this published and why it might or might not make a suitable publisher for your final
magazine.
My magazine will be targeted towards an alternative audience.
The first Q magazine was published in October 1986 by EMAP Media Group. Mark Ellen and David
Hepworth founded the magazine to target the group of people who were buying CDs, which at the
time were a newer technology. Q was then sold to the Bauer Media Group who are a large and
successful company.
Bauer Media would be suitable publishers for my final magazine due to the fact that I have a similar
target audience to the magazines that Bauer publish (i.e. alternative/indie) therefore they could help
to advertise my magazine to the same target audience and hopefully this would be successful.
