Here I've put together a Powerpoint showing three examples of perfume adverts that subvert to the stereotypical guidelines of a perfume advert. There are different takes on this however.
Here I've put together a Powerpoint showing three examples of perfume adverts that subvert to the stereotypical guidelines of a perfume advert. There are different takes on this however.
2. Image: This
advertisement is for a
Versace perfume call
bright crystal. The
main image is of a
alluring looking
women that is starring
down the camera
lens.
Colour: The theme colour being
baby pinks gives the connotation
of the vulnerability of the lady
wearing this perfume. However the
lady looks alluring which shows the
opposite of vulnerable.
Typography: The title is in clear,
bold, sans serif font that shows up
well on the faded white
background. The colour of the font
is white which reflects the colour of
the bottle which is placed above
the bottle to steel the viewers
focus.
Target Audience: for this
perfume is for 18-30 year olds. I
can tell from the young model and
the alluring emotion on her face.
The young light pink colour also
reflects the young adult audience.
Code of Behaviour: The advert has a large image of a lady looking straight into the camera
looking strong yet vulnerable. She has fierce black eye makeup on to define her eyes and big back
combed hair that covers half of her face. The hair is a connotation of the 80’s which gives the poster
a vintage, high class touch. There is an image of the bottle in front of her. The bottle is a petite pink
bottle with a white crystal lid that glows and shines on the ladies face.
Brand Name: This
Perfume is called bright
crystal. This
advertisement doesn’t
clearly show the
product name but the
brand name which is
Versace, this is a
extremely well known
brand known for its
expensive product. This
is done to catch the eye
of Versace fans.
3. Image: This is advertised by Kiera
Knightley; a actress known for
playing romantic roles. She holds
the bottle rested on her lower
shoulder with her body turned side
on facing the camera. She gives
the connotation that she is in love
with the perfume as Kiera is
holding the bottle to her lips and
eyes pointing to the camera.
Colour: The colour of the bottle almost matches the clothing
Kiera Knightley is wearing which makes the poster subtle. The
colours represent elegance and seductiveness that also
reflects on the roles Kiera Knightley is known for playing.
Target Audience: The target audience for this advert is for
18-30 year old females. I can tell this because of actress to
represent the perfume is elegant; know for the posh roles of a
determined young lady. This gives the connotation that the
perfume is aimed at elegant females.
Brand Name: The perfume is called Coco Mademoiselle.
Mademoiselle translates to ‘miss’ which gives the
denotation that the perfume is very feminine.
Code of behaviour: Kiera Knightley is glaring at the
camera with her deep dark brown eyes as she alluringly
looks at the camera, touching the bottle lid with her creamy
pink lips. She has a cream vintage bike jacket on with her
collar up which expresses the sophistication of her as a
person and gives the connotation that if you buy and wear
this perfume you can be as sophisticated as miss
Knightley.
Typography: The font is a French font that looks intriguing
and mysterious. If this advert was a big success then the
writing would be something that was recognisable to coco
mademoiselle. The brand ‘Chanel’ is written in a bold font in
white which is also the brands logo.
4. The target
audience for this
advertisement is
17-27 year old as
the flowers give
the connotation
of youthfulness.
Marc Jacobs is a
popular brand
and implies
‘young adult’ as
other known
products such as
watches, bag
and jewellery is
aimed at 17-27
year olds.
The perfume is
aimed at females
as the feminine
flowers on the
bottle show.
‘Daisy’ is also
usually a ladies
name or given to
cute, soft animals.
The background is the ocean and you can also see the pale green grass and
the strong green tree’s branches to the right side of the advert. The background
displays the perfume bottle well as the background is a dim image of the
crashing sea, and the grass, in which the bottle is rested, is a deeper colour of
the bottle. The white sky shows the bottle lid of the daisy’s attached to the gold
sphere on top of the bottle.
The brand Marc Jacobs is a well known brand. The product is presented clearly
as a Marc Jacob product which will sell the perfume. The brand is written in thin
bold letters, located under the product name. These texts are only texts which
make the advert affective and eye catching. More text could over power the
advert as the bottle is young, pretty and sweet. The text on the bottle has to be
thin and as the Marc Jacob brand is written like this.
