I asked this questionnaire to a wide range of
ages so I could see if we had achieved our
target audience. I asked a 14year old, a
16year old, two 21 year olds and a 50year
old.

2. 1) Was the genre of the film clear to you in the first 2 minutes? If not
please explain why, and what could be done to make clearer
-It was Reasonably clear
-Yes it was
-Yes I could tell it was a fantasy film
-Yes the music made it seem mysterious and the fantasy
genre was evident when the ring transported to the field,
leaving you in suspense.

3. 2)Would you go and see this film at the cinema? If
not please explain why
-Yes I would

4. 3)Is the plot of the film easy to understand? Please
explain your reasons
-Yes, I understood Emma found something that
transported her to another location
-Yes, you understand that Emma was looking for
something, which would lead to a more in depth
situation
-so far yes, as the only twist was the ring being found. It
was clear that she was searching for something
-Yes very imaginative and clear
-Sort of, I would want to know why Emma was in the
attic in the first place

5. 4)We have decided the class this film as a PG, do
you think this is the right classification?
-Yes

-yes there was no violence, gore etc it seems
suitable
-Yes as the audience is wide so adults can take
their kids

6. 5)Do you think that the camerawork, sound, mise-en-scene
(what’s shown on screen) and acting creates a believable
atmosphere to the film?
-Yes I thought it was filmed very well

-Yes the music helped create the air of mystery.
The camera work was inventive and creative
which helped reflect the genre and storyline.

film?
-I think it was a good location
-The attic was a very good location as it set the
scene and atmosphere perfectly
-The attic was a good location it helped
emphasize the sense of adventure and the
things that happened in the past. The fields
were also a good contrast
-The attic was good as lots of people can relate
to this ‘spooky’ setting
-The attic was good and different

8. 7)What do you think of the sound to the film?
-It set the atmosphere well
-The sound helped set the atmosphere for the
fantasy genre
-The sound created a spooky atmosphere and fit
in with the finding of objects
-Very good and mysterious
-I liked the music, it set the curious feel to the
opening I liked how it faded when Emma’s
grandma was talking

9. 8)Do you think we could have improved anything to make
the opening two minutes of Emma’s Dilemma even better?
-No

-Maybe more explanation of why she was in the
attic in the first place as it felt rather rushed
-The titles at the beginning seemed quite rushed
maybe they could be spread out a bit more
-Introduction of more characters

10. 9)What do you think of the camera angles used
throughout the opening?
-very good
-Very good I liked it when Emma opened the chest
-The camera angles were different and the continuity of
the shots was great, it flowed rather evenly
-very good, I liked the close up shots of the ring and
then when it zoomed out Emma was in a different place
-very good I liked it when Emma went up the ladder

11. 10)Overall what did you think of the movie?
-obviously had a lot of thought out into it, it left me wanting to
know more about what happens next
-very well prepared, thoroughly thought through, eye catching,
very well played
-I thought it was a very unique movie, the ideas were original
and the camerawork was executed very well. The speech and
sound were pronounced clearly. It seems like a very interesting
movie.
-I liked the plot, very interesting
-I liked the idea, suitable for everyone as old and young people
seem to be involved
