TARGET AUDIENCE
Research & Planning
Age
• My documentary will be directed to people
between the ages of 12 to the elderly (60). I
chose such a big age range because I would like
to educate the older generation that have an
altered perception of youth which is why I would
like to change their opinion on them.
• I chose the minimum age of 12 due to the fact
there may be some concepts shown which may
not be suitable for them so see. For example
some distressing scenes or scenes with
discussions of drugs.
Gender
• My documentary will be aimed at males. This is because in
the UK most youths in the situation I will be documenting
are neither male or female despite the representation of
males during the course of my documentary. Furthermore,
In terms of interests My documentary will be talking about
music a lot. Specifically the introduction to the new
underground music genre, drill music.
• It would be good to educate females about how UK males
are misrepresented whether it be by the media or the
public.
• By having my target audience as both males and females is
maximizes the potential of the amount of people my
product can reach.
Ethnicity
• The topic my documentary will be discussing
is not ethnicity specific. It will show different
ethnicities and races.
• But it is safe to say that the majority of youths
“on the road” are African/ Caribbean black
boys. This representation may not be
dominant through my documentary as I would
like to show how the stereotype is beginning
to fade.
Class
• In my documentary Working class will be shown
throughout. This is because typically, working
class people live in such areas that are presented
and need to find alternative ways to make money.
Whether it be by making music or breaking the
law.
• For the purpose of educating and awareness I
would like to appeal to all classes but I believe
that it may attract the attention of working class
people.
