Meaning of safety
Historically, recurrent incidences of workplace accidents, subsequent injuries, and resulting conditions have significantly affected the wellbeing of employees in various working environments. Some of the notable cases of such accidents include “falls, being struck by objects, electrocution and getting caught-in/between operational machines “(OSHA). According to Personick and Ethel experts from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, it is because of increasingly worrying numbers of injuries and illnesses in work environments that the positions of safety inspectors and supervisors were created. In modern workplace management practices, emphasis is laid on creating the best and safest work environment for employees in varied professions. To achieve this, all workplaces must be reviewed and evaluated for compliance to safety policies by safety inspectors. Other important considerations include employee training and opinion based focus in work environments. Admittedly, workplace scrutiny by safety inspectors ensures that work environments are safe, healthy, and secure for all workers. Additionally, the continued presence of safety supervisors guarantees continued adherence to safety policies, rules and regulations.

Meaning of safety
Historically, recurrent incidences of workplace accidents,
subsequent injuries, and resulting conditions have significantly
affected the wellbeing of employees in various working
environments. Some of the notable cases of such accidents
include “falls, being struck by objects, electrocution and getting
caught-in/between operational machines “(OSHA). According to
Personick and Ethel experts from the Bureau of Labor Statistics,
it is because of increasingly worrying numbers of injuries and
illnesses in work environments that the positions of safety
inspectors and supervisors were created. In modern workplace
management practices, emphasis is laid on creating the best and
safest work environment for employees in varied professions.
To achieve this, all workplaces must be reviewed and evaluated
for compliance to safety policies by safety inspectors. Other
important considerations include employee training and opinion
based focus in work environments. Admittedly, workplace
scrutiny by safety inspectors ensures that work environments
are safe, healthy, and secure for all workers. Additionally, the
continued presence of safety supervisors guarantees continued
adherence to safety policies, rules and regulations.
Bringing someone new into the safety program to supervise the
working environment provides a fresh non-biased opinion to the
safety of the workplace. Opponents of safety practices involving
2. inspectors and supervisors argue that the whole process may be
too costly and time consuming. Nonetheless, the overall impact
of omitting a safety inspector from the safety process in the
workplace may lead to life loss or traumatic injuries if
precautions are not taken. Notably, being from outside the
company, safety inspectors normally present non-biased
opinions. Additionally, most of them are highly trained and
experienced in their areas of specialization. As a result, they
possess outstanding abilities in identifying safety hitches that
would be costly in the long-term. Furthermore, being
professional in practice makes them release all observed
information; whether negative or positive. To this extent, they
substantially enrich the safety programs of various work
environments. According to the career guide to the safety
profession that has been published by the American Society of
Safety Engineers Foundation, safety inspectors not only help to
identify and reduce workplace hazards but also support in
reducing costs and assist all workers within the company
(Brown).
Experience is a vital attribute that companies concern when
promoting an employee from lower position to supervisor.
Experienced safety employees are equipped with better career
elements through long-term interaction with other employees,
thus initiating a well-structured cognitive behavior. They have
suitable and ideal experience by helping in maintaining
rationality towards employees they supervise. In a supervisory
role, experienced personnel have well-structured conceptual
frameworks they apply in in work approach in order to achieve
excellence. They are tasked to create a proper internal
communication mechanism that enhances intrinsic development
in employees. One of the most common ways of achieving
experience is through education. Besides, other companies
devise training programs to encourage direct interaction
between employees and supervisors (Huang). Whenever the
safety management system understands the strengths and
weaknesses of its staff, education in most cases assist in
3. influencing knowledge based on every individual. It is also
relevant to note that education is very important but with
without experience this knowledge would not be used in the
right place.
Apart from education, safety supervision and inspections in the
workplace calls for proper focus. Supervisors require a
comprehensive focus system that addresses the entire
organization. A well-initiated safety inspection initiative
appreciates the efforts of each stakeholder while implementing
an adequate health measure. Unlike out dated consulting tactics,
focus in the workplace promotes supervisors to align duties
through different result yielding approaches. This includes
devising an internal drive that motivates actions and
commitments considerably enough to impact better performance
value.
Presence of safety inspectors in a workplace is a cost effective
measure to an organization. Apart from the main duty of
safeguarding people’s health, safety inspectors equally help in
saving the company from miscellaneous expenditures put in
place as remedies for environmental degradation. This is
because several incidents of injuries are highly common in an
unprotected environment. They conduct risk assessment through
identification of hazardous input and outputs. While doing the
same, they donate the advice to other employees on their
responsibilities towards safety workplace rights. Personick
support that safety officials improve ‘Work Safe’ compliance
through practical guidance on risk management. Practically,
they also offer consultation services mainly to recruits on safety
standards. Thus, incidence of inspectors and officers around a
workplace is a cost effective measure that no company should
omit.
In sum, creation of safety inspectors in a workplace area is a
critical step towards safeguarding people from unexpected
4. injuries. Assumption of such positions can easily suggest that a
company is ready to spend multiple sums of money in treatment
and replacements of material losses as opposed to a little
amount that could be used hire the inspectors. Before recruiting
inspectors, key issues such as education and experience should
be prioritized since it requires conceptual frameworks that none
else would do. Similarly, an inclusive work commitment is vital
in conducting daily activities. Safety inspectors are important in
a working environment since their presence cares for both
workers’ health and work premises.
