Talaromyces marneffei is a dimorphic fungus of the phylum Ascomycota that causes penicilliosis in immunocompromised individuals. It is normally found in soils and plants in Southeast Asia but can infect humans, being dimorphic it exists as both a mold in the environment and a yeast in tissue. It reproduces asexually by conidiation and can be treated with antifungal drugs like amphotericin B.
