Tadpole DB Hub is an open source database management tool that allows users to manage heterogeneous databases through a single web interface. It aims to provide a user-friendly experience for developers and administrators. The document discusses how Tadpole DB Hub can integrate with Altibase, an in-memory database, to provide Altibase customers a new web-based management tool and allow Tadpole DB Hub to support more database solutions and customers. The author contributed to the project by adding Altibase extension capabilities and translating the user interface to English.
As HBase and Hadoop continue to become routine across enterprises, these enterprises inevitably shift priorities from effective deployments to cost-efficient operations. Consolidation of infrastructure, the sum of hardware, software, and system-administrator effort, is the most common strategy to reduce costs. As a company grows, the number of business organizations, development teams, and individuals accessing HBase grows commensurately, creating a not-so-simple requirement: HBase must effectively service many users, each with a variety of use-cases. This is problem is known as multi-tenancy. While multi-tenancy isn’t a new problem, it also isn’t a solved one, in HBase or otherwise. This talk will present a high-level view of the common issues organizations face when multiple users and teams share a single HBase instance and how certain HBase features were designed specifically to mitigate the issues created by the sharing of finite resources.
Conquering Data Migration from Oracle to PostgresEDB
Once you have converted Oracle object definitions and stored procedures, moving the data is the next key stage.
There are three approaches for migrating data: Big-bang, Trickle, and Synchronize. While most migrations can be done using any one of these approaches, some migrations will require a combination of them.
In this webinar, we will cover the below approaches to migrating data from Oracle to Postgres:
Big bang - One-time data load
Trickle - One-time data load in parallel
Synchronize - Sync data between Oracle and Postgres using replication

Benchmarking is hard. Benchmarking databases, harder. Benchmarking databases that follow different approaches (relational vs document) is even harder.
But the market demands these kinds of benchmarks. Despite the different data models that MongoDB and PostgreSQL expose, many organizations face the challenge of picking either technology. And performance is arguably the main deciding factor.
Join this talk to discover the numbers! After $30K spent on public cloud and months of testing, there are many different scenarios to analyze. Benchmarks on three distinct categories have been performed: OLTP, OLAP and comparing MongoDB 4.0 transaction performance with PostgreSQL's.
What would be faster, MongoDB or PostgreSQL?

Today’s organizations need all kinds of data, from a wide and growing array of sources. Marshaling all that data into one location can be difficult, even unrealistic. Increasingly, innovative companies are taking a much more distributed approach to storing and processing data. The end result is an information architecture that supports a broader range of business activities, and reduces dependence on costly data movement.
Register for this episode of The Briefing Room to learn from veteran Analyst Dr. Robin Bloor, as he explains how a distributed approach to data management can open doors to new business opportunities. He’ll be briefed by Jim Tommaney of InfiniDB who will explain how his company’s database has the flexibility to run on-prem, in the cloud, with cluster files systems or even Hadoop’s HDFS. He’ll also show how InfiniDB can serve as a conduit to companies looking to transform their information architecture to better satisfy changing market demands.

Top 10 Tips for an Effective Postgres DeploymentEDB
This presentation addresses these key questions during your Postgres deployment:
* What is this database going to be used for – a reporting server or data warehouse, or as an operational database supporting an application?
* Which resources should I spend the budget on to ensure optimal database performance – bigger servers, more CPUs/cores, disks, or more memory?
* What are my backup requirements? If I ever need to restore, how far back do I need to go and what will that mean to the business?
* How will I handle any hot fixes, such as security patches?
* What downtime can be afforded and what processes need to be in place to apply critical or maintenance updates?
* What are my replication and failover requirements and what should I do for my high availability configuration?
The answers to these questions will impact how well you prepare, configure, and tune your database environment. The consequences of overlooking the key ingredients of your deployment can result in misallocated resources, limited ability to change, or worse - facing an outage with critical data loss.
With solid Postgres deployment planning, you can reduce risks, spend less time troubleshooting in post-production situations, lower long-term maintenance costs, instill confidence, and be a superstar DBA.

The material was created around 2010-end, but published February'2011.
The main purposes of creating this document were as follows:
- very very few people working on SAP HANA at that time
- information regarding SAP HANA not really available and if available, it was scattered !!
- always pulled for presentations and technical demos which generally hampered my own hands-on work :). And I was alone at San Jose whereas Ulrich used to busy in Walldorf coordinating with SAP.
BTW, it was my full-fledged first SAP HANA presentation in end of 2010, although published in 2011. The document is quite old now but most of the part still holds good as of today.

Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
