Rest times for drivers - now this confusing for some persons but I've laid it out here - very simply and using simple language with some examples again to work through

1. Rest Times for drivers
A driver must take a
daily rest period of
11 hours in the first
24 hours after the
end of the last daily
or weekly rest
period
● This can be an
uninterrupted period
of 11 hours or
● Split into two rest
periods one on 3
hours and one of 9
hours

2. V1 2
Reducing your daily rest
You can reduce the
rest to only 9 hours or
more
You can only do this a
maximum of 3 times
between two weekly
rest periods

3. Weekly Rest
A regular weekly rest is
45 hours
A reduced weekly rest is
at between 24 hours
and 45 hours

4. But in any two weeks take
Two regular weekly rest
periods or
One regular rest and a
reduced weekly rest
period
A reduced weekly rest
period must be
compensated for by the
end of the third week
you take the reduced
rest and attached to a
rest period of at least
nine hours

5. Example Weekly Rest
● Week 1 – 30 hours reduced weekly rest
● Week 2 – 45 hours (regular rest period)
● Week 3 – 45 hours
● Week 4 – 45 hours + 15 hours of compensation
from week 1
● Weekly rest must start no later than six days
after the previous weekly rest.

6. Example Weekly Rest
● Week 1 – 30 hours reduced weekly rest
● Week 2 – 45 hours (regular rest period)
● Week 3 – 45 hours
● Week 4 – 45 hours + 15 hours of compensation
from week 1
● Weekly rest must start no later than six days
after the previous weekly rest.
