This document summarizes two studies that outline procedures for fitting remote microphone (RM) technology on children with normal hearing but auditory disorders. The studies involved fitting Phonak iSense Micro FM receivers on children to meet DSL targets without exceeding uncomfortable loudness levels. Testing showed the fittings resulted in comfortable loudness ratings and significantly better speech recognition, listening comprehension, and parent ratings when using the RM technology compared to no RM technology. The proposed fitting procedures were effective for improving classroom listening abilities in children with normal hearing but auditory disorders.
