Ensuring Technology Access Equity:
The Dallas ISD Flight Plan to the Future

The notion of a “flight plan” is used because, like a flight plan, our plan
requires us to fly high, to a specific destination, with checkpoints along
the way; it requires that we know the destination and we plan a route
to get there, considering the available resources, time and obstacles; it
encourages us to leverage the wind at our back that available
opportunities can provide; it challenges us to soar.

Our flight plan
Destination: every child, in every building, has access to the same
great technology resources.
Checkpoints:
• Senior leadership buy-in and full commitment
• Clearly articulated vision and benefits of success, shared often
• Great technology system to track assets
• Great communication, focused on adoption and success
• Clear metrics and understanding of success

We will share what we learned and our indicators of success:
• Unanticipated challenges
• How we found opportunities
• How we tracked our progress on the journey
• What our colleagues at the campuses would like to share

Like all great journeys,
ours focused not on
what was or had been,
but on what would
make the greatest
difference, and what
was possible: every
child, in every school,
having a great and
equal opportunity for
success.
