Today there are several guides available in the market for mathematics and science subjects but none for architecture aptitude tests covering the syllabus of NATA .
These Sure-shot NATA SAMPLE/GUESS PAPERS have been prepared to bridge the gap especially for those candidates who have no access for personal coaching. It took many years to complete this handbook and hundreds of students were interacted before putting this handbook into final shape. These Sure-shot NATA SAMPLE/GUESS PAPERS prepare potential entrants for success in obtaining merit in the aptitude test. Full care has been taken to cover the entire syllabus of NATA.
2. Important Information
A large number of students are under the impression
that since they have given the architecture entrance
exam (JEE) conducted by CBSE, they would get
admission on the basis of this exam. As a matter of fact
very few colleges accept the score of JEE. Most of the self
financing and other architecture colleges and schools in
India accept only NATA score. Unless and until you clear
NATA exam you cannot get admission in these colleges.

in Bal Bharati Public School, GRH MARG, New Delhi
on 5th November, 2012
4. ARCHITECTURE
A large number of engineering colleges are offering
B.Tech./B.E. degree courses but the colleges offering
architecture degree course are comparatively very less.
While more than 19 lakhs engineers are produced every
year only 4500 architects are produced per year. Only 49
thousand architects are registered in the country till
December 2013. There is an estimated shortage of 7 lakh
architects in the country. With expanding global
economies, rising incomes, mass migration of people from
rural to urban areas as a result of mass transport systems
available, the demand on architecture has increased
manifolds.
5. ARCHITECTURE SCHOOLS
Presently the number of schools offering five
years B. Arch. Degree course in the country
are approximately 337 and admission to the
course in all schools of architecture is
compulsorily through aptitude tests. The
syllabus and pattern of the tests are
prescribed by Council of Architecture.
6. CREATIVITY
Architecture is related with creativity and creativity
cannot be taught or learnt. It is a study of visualization
and that's what we teach in our academy - the correct
way to visualize and analyse the subject and questions
and how to transform a student’s innovative ideas on to
paper.
7. NATA EXAMS
NATA Drawing Test - 2 hours
2 papers -100 marks each
To be given on the same day
No choice of Questions
What comes in Nata Question paper:
2 D compositions with the help of the Basic forms of geometry and
colour schemes
3D compositions of various objects with the effect of light and shade .
Memory Drawing of day today life with help of free hand sketches as well
as with one point and 2 Point perspective method.•
8. The NATA Test is in two parts
The test measures aptitude of the candidate through two
sections – a paper based section for drawing and computer
based section for aesthetic sensitivity.
A paper based drawing test and computer based online
aesthetic sensitivity test.
Drawing Test Contains 3 questions 100 Marks – 2 hours
Computer based objective test – 40 Questions – 100 marks
– 1 hour approx .
9. DRAWING TEST
The primary emphasis in scoring the drawing section is on
the candidates drawing, imagination and observation
skills. The candidates sense of proportion & perspective is
also evaluated together with sense for colour and
composition.
Creating interesting two dimensional composition using
given shapes and Form
Creating visual harmony using colours in given
composition.
Understanding of scale and proportions.
Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes
from day to day experiences.
10. AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST
This is computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiple
choice questions. The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception,
imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with
architectural awareness and comprises of -
Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings.
Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects.
Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their
textural qualities.
Analytical reasoning.
Mental Ability.
Imaginative comprehension and expression.
Architectural awareness.
11. AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST
The candidates score will depend on his / her performance on the questions given and on
the number of questions answered in the time allotted.
This section is computer adaptive, meaning that the computer selects questions based on
the candidate’s performance on preceding questions (When correct answer is given, next
question will be of higher difficulty level whereas, if wrong answer is given next question
is of lower difficulty level) and on the requirements of the test design. Test design factors
that influence which questions are presented to the candidate include:
The statistical characteristics (including difficulty level) of the questions already
answered.
The required variety of question types.
During the computer based test, with adaptive testing, an examinee is administered a set
of questions with a difficulty level that is specifically designed to match the examinees
ability level. The mathematical process for calculating a score in this situation
incorporates the statistical properties of the questions, the examinees performance on
the questions, and the number of questions that are answered.
12. AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST
The “per second” countdown begins 30 seconds before the
allotted time for that question ends. In case no answer is
offered till the time ends, the question is skipped and next
question appears.
16. How to prepare?
Many coaching centres are providing expert coaching
for IIT and B.Tech. but very few experts are available for
architecture entrance examinations. Only qualified and
experienced architects can provide coaching and
guidance for architecture entrance exams.
