“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had
understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do;
the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren
were at their commandment.“
1 Chronicles 12:32
What about the sons of Issachar?
• The sons of Issachar had both spiritual and political understanding.
• Events didn’t take them by surprise.
• They could discern what God was doing and when He was doing it.
• They knew when one move of God was ending and another one was
beginning.
• They could discern when a leader was falling, and another leader was
rising.
What about the sons of Issachar?
• They could even tell who the next leader should be. They knew who
to follow and when to follow.
• They knew what Israel should do and when it should be done.
• Their unique ability to understand times and seasons made them
influential.
1. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose
under the heaven:
2. A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a
time to pluck up that which is planted;
3. A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a
time to build up;
4. A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a
time to dance;
5. A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6. A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to
cast away;
7. A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a
time to speak;
8. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of
peace.
• Time, argueably, is a fraction of eternity
• Life on earth is measured by time
• Worth paying attention to (Ps 90:12)
• Differentiates OLD from NEW
• Defines the BEGINNING and the END
• Time management = self menagement
• It is valuable, irreplaceable, and limited
• Understanding of time, a virtue of the wise
TIME
1. To everything there is time
• There is time and season for everything (Ecc 3:1, Gen 8:22)
• Your actions per time shape your destiny (Gen 12:4a)
• Persistence when others are giving up
• It is imperative to understand God‘s timing in our lives (Gen
26:1-3, 1Kgs 17:9-10)
2. Time management
Tips:
1. Avoid time wasters (Eph 5:4, 2Cor 6:14)
2. Stop procrastinating (Jn 9:4)
3. Prioritize (Acts 6:2)
4. Delegate (Ex 18:20-22, Acts 6:2-4)
5. Have daily plan (Luke 14:28)
