3. 280slides.com During the first week of my placement, I used this web 2.0 tool to introduce myself to the class. I just had pictures of myself, my pets, my family, and a couple of my favorite things. The students really seemed to enjoy it! I think it gave them a little insight into my life.
4. Bubbl.us This is a brainstorming website. On this website there are many different options to make a content web. The students in my classroom used this tool to create a content web for their country or region in Africa.
5. Quizlet This was used as an interactive flash card tool with my students. We used the smart board to play a review game. The students loved using these flash cards online, it was something new and different.
6. Slideshare This tool is very helpful. You are able to upload PowerPoint so people can watch them online. There are also other PowerPoints that people have created that you can use! I used a PowerPoint about Africa in my social studies class this quarter.
7. Elmo Document Camera This document camera projects whatever is underneath it onto the smartboard. I used this almost every day to show student work examples to the rest of the class. It was very useful and the students loved it!
8. Teachertube This was a helpful website while I was student teaching. I didn’t use it a lot to show my students videos, but I used it to brush up on some of the math concepts they were learning. I showed it a few times in my class and the students seemed to enjoy it. I think it is a little safer than YouTube.
9. Neok12.com This website is awesome for finding videos to use in the classroom. I used this for a lesson on probability that I was teaching the sixth graders. The videos can be slight boring, so I only used it once or twice.
10. Smartboard and Smartboard Tools I had a smartboard in my room so I used it everyday. For example I used the interactive dice tool to show my students the probability of rolling a certain number on a dice. I also used the interactive coins and had students flip for heads or tails and then we made a table about our data. The smartboard is so easy and fun to use. The students get the most out of the lesson if they can be involved in their own learning. The smartboard can make that happen everyday.
11. The End I feel as though I am more comfortable with technology now that I have used it a lot in my 2nd school. It is nice to have it available to use everyday. I think this is a look into our future and each teacher should use technology to it’s fullest.
