  1. 1. John O’Connor’s Technology Summative Presentation Silverbrook Middle School and Indianapolis Lutheran High School

Silverbrook <ul><li>Silverbrook was a public middle school which had a lot of technology in the classrooms </li></ul><ul><li>All of the science and math rooms had a SMART board and my social studies classroom also had a SMARTboard </li></ul><ul><li>I used the SMART board every day in my lessons and I also let the students use it </li></ul>

SMART board <ul><li>It was very helpful for student engagement and interaction </li></ul><ul><li>One of the units that I taught did a lot with maps and countries </li></ul><ul><li>I would have the students come up to the front of the class and place country outlines in the correct places on the maps </li></ul><ul><li>The students loved it and were much more engaged and willing participants </li></ul>
  4. 4. ELMO <ul><li>I was able to write notes and things for the students on the ELMO which they would copy down </li></ul><ul><li>The students also enjoyed showing their work on the ELMO to the entire class </li></ul>
  5. 5. Power Points <ul><li>Everyday I would have a Power Point Presentation for the students </li></ul><ul><li>The students at my school did Cornell Notes and the Power Points went well with Cornell Notes </li></ul><ul><li>I also used them for anchor activities </li></ul>
  6. 6. Web 2.0 Tools <ul><li>I was able to use some Web 2.0 Tools at Silverbrook </li></ul><ul><li>The students were very advanced in technology and wanted to use it </li></ul><ul><li>I used blabberize, wikispaces, and penzu </li></ul>

Website Assignments <ul><li>I also had the students to research on their own by going to specific websites that I had set apart for them </li></ul><ul><li>http://incas.mrdonn.org/ </li></ul><ul><li>http://www.kidspast.com/world-history/0285-inca-empire.php </li></ul><ul><li>These are two websites that I used </li></ul>
  8. 8. Indianapolis <ul><li>Indianapolis does not have as much technology as Silverbrook had </li></ul><ul><li>They do have Projectors, but not in every classroom </li></ul><ul><li>Incorporating technology was more difficult here </li></ul>
  9. 9. Power Point <ul><li>I was not able to use as many Power Point Presentation like I used at Silverbrook, but I still used them periodically </li></ul>
  10. 10. Video Integration <ul><li>Teachers were able to access a lot of different videos at Indianapolis </li></ul><ul><li>I used videos from youtube and pbs </li></ul><ul><li>The students were much more engaged when I used technology </li></ul>
  11. 11. Web 2.0 Tools <ul><li>Penzu </li></ul><ul><li>Xtranormal </li></ul><ul><li>Blabberize </li></ul>
  12. 12. Overall Experience <ul><li>I saw that it enhanced lessons and kept the students engaged </li></ul><ul><li>Students seemed to enjoy using the tools as well </li></ul><ul><li>I like learning about all of the different tools and enjoyed working with a few of them in depth </li></ul>
