(a)(i) The rate of inflation in five successive years in a certain country was 5%, 8%,
12%, 25% and 34%. What was the average rate of inflation per year?
(ii) In a class of fifteen students, the Lecturer in charge of STS 102 pasted ten
students’ scores in the Continuous Assessment Test as follows: 16, 20, 19,
21, 18, 20, 17, 22, 20, 17. Compute the arithmetic mean and standard
deviation for these scores.
(b) The length of a pole is measured as 20 metres to the nearest metre. Calculate
the percentage error.
(c) The table below shows the distribution of the waiting times for some
customers in a certain petrol station in Gusau.
