Vietnam has conducted annual national surveys of individuals aged 15 and older since 2006 to understand media usage patterns in the country. The most recent survey was conducted between November 2012 and February 2013 and interviewed 3,018 randomly selected Vietnamese adults across 50 provinces. Some key findings include:
- Television ownership is nearly universal at over 97% while mobile phone ownership is also very high at over 87%. Internet and computer usage is growing but still much lower, especially in rural areas.
- Transportation infrastructure challenges make conducting surveys difficult, especially reaching remote rural villages that are inaccessible by roads.
- Youth and more educated Vietnamese are more likely to use digital and social media like the internet on mobile phones compared to older and less educated
This document provides information about a survey conducted in Belgium in 2011 as part of the EURISLAM project. It summarizes the sample sizes for different ethnic groups, including 388 people from the national majority and between 152-254 people from Muslim backgrounds. Response rates for the different groups ranged from 27.6-45.1%. The document also presents results on attitudes toward Western and Muslim culture, with people generally agreeing both cultures can be learned from, though those with Muslim backgrounds tended to agree more.

The European Commission has undertaken a survey to gauge attitudes within the 500-million-strong European Union, the world’s largest aid donor, toward development and the Millennium Development Goals. The special Eurobarometer, conducted between late May and early June this year, gathered the views of 27,680 EU citizens aged 15 and above, aimed at informing EU development policy beyond 2015.
Here are some of the findings from the survey.
This document summarizes the results of an opinion poll conducted by Ipsos in Kenya regarding awareness and support for the country's constitutional requirement that women comprise at least one-third of elected bodies. The poll was conducted from March 28 to April 7, 2015 among 1,964 Kenyan adults through in-person interviews. It finds that 39% of respondents were aware of the one-third gender rule, though awareness was higher among women and supporters of specific political parties. Among those aware, 52% thought the requirement would not be met by the August 2015 deadline but most felt the rule would improve politics and governance.

Introduction
As U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry continues with his high-level meetings, he may be interested to know who Kenyans consider are their most valuable development partners, as well as which foreign countries outside the immediate East Africa region whose perceived interests in Kenya cause them most concern. These realities formed part of Ipsos’ most recent national survey.
This document provides an analysis of public opinion polling data related to the upcoming 2015 UK general election, which will take place one year from when this document was published. It finds that the election is very hard to predict given lack of precedent. The Conservative party currently has a narrow lead in polls but historical data shows the other party often wins in such a scenario. Voters are increasingly volatile and negative campaigning is unpopular. The economy and immigration are top issues but few think economic growth has benefited them personally. UKIP support seems focused on highlighting issues rather than being a realistic government option. The Conservatives face challenges around maintaining their lead, appealing to UKIP supporters, and dealing with an unpredictable electoral environment.

This research report summarizes the findings of a public opinion poll measuring Kosovar citizens' knowledge and perceptions of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between Kosovo and the European Union. The results indicate that citizens have low levels of knowledge about the content and implications of the SAA. While most citizens believe Kosovo should join the EU, they are skeptical that Kosovo is prepared to implement the reforms required by the SAA. Corruption, rule of law issues, unemployment, and political instability are seen as the main challenges to SAA implementation.

The document summarizes surveys conducted between 2007-2012 on social support for Catalan independence. The surveys show increasing support for independence over time, with support for "Yes" averaging around 6% growth per year. By 2013, surveys suggest support for "Yes" could reach 70% if trends continue. More recent surveys from 2011-2012 show over 50% support and some over 60% for an independent Catalan state. The conclusion is that social support for Catalan independence has become a reality based on survey trends.

"Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. I believe we could all benefit from learning new perspectives as they could help us ideate solutions to contemporary issues and empathize with others.

Fabular Frames and the Four Ratio ProblemMajid Iqbal
Digital, interactive art showing the struggle of a society in providing for its present population while also saving planetary resources for future generations. Spread across several frames, the art is actually the rendering of real and speculative data. The stereographic projections change shape in response to prompts and provocations. Visitors interact with the model through speculative statements about how to increase savings across communities, regions, ecosystems and environments. Their fabulations combined with random noise, i.e. factors beyond control, have a dramatic effect on the societal transition. Things get better. Things get worse. The aim is to give visitors a new grasp and feel of the ongoing struggles in democracies around the world.
Stunning art in the small multiples format brings out the spatiotemporal nature of societal transitions, against backdrop issues such as energy, housing, waste, farmland and forest. In each frame we see hopeful and frightful interplays between spending and saving. Problems emerge when one of the two parts of the existential anaglyph rapidly shrinks like Arctic ice, as factors cross thresholds. Ecological wealth and intergenerational equity areFour at stake. Not enough spending could mean economic stress, social unrest and political conflict. Not enough saving and there will be climate breakdown and ‘bankruptcy’. So where does speculative design start and the gambling and betting end? Behind each fabular frame is a four ratio problem. Each ratio reflects the level of sacrifice and self-restraint a society is willing to accept, against promises of prosperity and freedom. Some values seem to stabilise a frame while others cause collapse. Get the ratios right and we can have it all. Get them wrong and things get more desperate.
