This document discusses the history and technical aspects of animation devices. It describes early animation techniques like thaumatropes, zoetropes, praxinoscopes and flipbooks. It then details an experiment to build a rotating animation device using a motor, frames of animation cells on a disc, and a strobe light to sync the rotation and flashing. Through experimenting with different frame rates, disc sizes and motor speeds, the creator was able to produce a smooth animation of diving rabbits in the snow.
