- Hi everyone! Welcome to this talk about shipping methods with Odoo. Don’t hesitate to ask questions on the pad. I will take the time a the end presentation to answer them. I will begin my Talk with this quote from Steve Jobs: “You’ve got to start with customer experience and work back toward the technology.” As my colleagues said last year what is important is not only to make a sale but to make a customer. Your customers don’t only pay for a good, they also pay for the service. Customer experience is essential to retain and win customers. Product delivery at customers convenience is one of the most unavoidable factors for it, not only for the E-commerce websites but for most of the offline retailers.
- It’s even more true when we see the current Covid crisis ! There is a huge boom of home delivery and so providing convenient shipping methods is crucial!
- Now let’s me show how you can streamline your shipping methods with Odoo
- Odoo integrates the following third party shippers. If your shipper is not on this screen, you might deeply look into easypost integration. There, you can find much more carriers.
- Let’s directly see how to activate and configure your shipping methods in Odoo with a use case. You will see that it’s quite easy and so convenient ! To continue with the latest news, imagine a business for kids leisures, Kids Paradise. So useful and necessary for parents in home working during the confinement. Welcome to the Kids Paradise database, I will show how it is configured. First, I go in the Inventory setting and there are now two sections to make it more visual: Shipping: with cool features that Odoo offers to upgrade the delivery service. You can receive a txt message or email when the deliveries are done You can add the request of the customer signature to confirm that the pack was well delivered. You have the delivery cost that is computed automatically. The box is automatically thicked in you choose one of the connectors below. So below, you have all the connectors integrated by odoo. Here I have chosen UPS and BPost. Now let’s see for example how UPS is configured. The content is the same but it’s visually cleaner in V14. Above you have the configuration of Odoo and below the configurations for the provider Create your own shipping method (how to do it and destination limitation) For making it works you need an adress on your customer and you need a size and a weight set on your product like this the shipping cost can be computed. Now let’s see the customer point of view, I am deseparated parent I need to find something to make my child busy during few hours. I go on the website Kids Paradise. There I found exactly what I need : Duplo, Kapla and small tractor for the playing in the garden. Perfect, I go to the basket, then I validate, I choose the shipment method that suits me the best and I finally validate. Everything is done and easy. Know let’s look at the backend to see what happened. What i need to show: 1e flux: Website view : I choose my product, I process the order, as I am registered of info of adresses are set and I choose my shipping method, + I pay + montrer doc dispo sur le portail→ show in the backend the SO done via website, show info written in the chatter, two lines on the order (one for the delivery) + say that it’s an estimated cost + process the delivery + show that you can track your package with the number in the chatter + via the smart button + free if order above X 2e flux: from the backend: create the order, add the shipping (message notification, price set at the delivery), show the Real cost =0 and an estimated in the bracket + put in pack + Return label (see that you have both labels in the chatter) + margin rate because return it for free (we see that the price is different because we add the margin) analyse the shipping cost thanks to the sales report + margin → conclusion
- As I began, I will also finish my Talk with a quote : “A satisfied customer is the best strategy of all”. Odoo will help you in this way because managing your shipping methods with Odoo is quick and easy while allowing flexibility and transparency for both the customer and the company.
