This document discusses five strategies for effectively engaging private sector providers in malaria diagnosis using rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs): 1) Investing in research on RDT quality and communicating results to reassure providers, 2) Marketing RDTs to make them affordable and accessible, 3) Building providers' capacity to use RDTs through training and retraining, 4) Creating demand for RDTs among clients, and 5) Partnering with government and other stakeholders on issues like funding, logistics, and regulation. The document argues that these strategies are needed to sustain private sector engagement in quality malaria testing and reduce presumptive treatment.
