Brașov is centrally located in Romania, making it a good base for exploring nearby tourist destinations. As the largest city in a mountain resort area, it has a well-preserved old city best seen from the top of Tâmpa Mountain via cable-car. Key sights include the Gothic Black Church from 1477 and nearby Bran Castle associated with Dracula, though it was not the home of Vlad the Impaler.
