This document appears to be a collection of slides and images from presentations by Lucien Engelen on various topics related to digital health and healthcare transformation. Some key points that emerge include:
- Emerging technologies and digital platforms are driving changes in how healthcare is delivered and received, moving care from hospitals to homes and phones.
- Apps, portals, and electronic health records will need to be transformed to better connect individuals, integrate new technologies, and comply with new regulations.
- Research on digital health technologies has increased but often focuses narrowly and fails to incorporate perspectives like total patients impacted or macroeconomic effects.
- Forces like new technologies, consumer demands, and sustainability issues are disrupting the existing healthcare
The document discusses the digital transformation of healthcare through various presentations and diagrams. It shows how healthcare has moved from hospitals to homes and phones through digitization. Apps, portals, and EHRs are seen as transitional solutions that will be replaced by more interconnected frameworks. The role of patients is increasing as they become more proactive in their health through continuous monitoring technologies. Healthcare delivery is shifting everywhere - at home, in hospitals, by doctors - through new digital innovations.
This document contains a collection of slides from various presentations by Lucien Engelen on topics related to digital health and healthcare transformation. The slides discuss themes like the shift to delocalized and democratized healthcare delivered through digital means, the forces driving disruption in healthcare, augmented medicine, innovation approaches, digital health research trends, and implications of new technologies like virtual nursing homes. Overall, the document shows Lucien Engelen's perspective on how digital technologies are transforming healthcare delivery and the healthcare industry.
This document discusses the future of healthcare and the forces driving innovation and change. It notes that technologies like smartphones, social media, digital cameras, and companies like Amazon, Uber and Airbnb did not exist 15 years ago but have massively disrupted many industries. Healthcare is now experiencing disruptive changes due to four forces: unsustainability of current systems, new technologies, consumer awakening, and societal changes. The future of healthcare will be delocalized, democratized, digital, and driven by data and dollars. New technologies will be integrated into every level of nursing. Healthcare professionals will need to embrace change and listen to patients. Large organizations need to partner with startups and technology companies to drive innovation.
The document discusses the future of healthcare and the role of digital technologies and innovation. It introduces concepts like augmented health, delocalized and democratized healthcare, and moments of choice in patient journeys. It discusses how digital health research is increasing but often narrow in scope and doesn't include patients. It also shows graphs of the growth in digital health publications over time and outlines opportunities to better understand effects and listen to patients. The overall message is that digital technologies will significantly change healthcare by making it more delocalized, digital, and responsive to patients.
The document appears to be a collection of slides from presentations given by Lucien Engelen on various topics related to healthcare and technology. Some key points summarized across multiple slides include:
- Healthcare is becoming more digital and software-focused.
- Remote monitoring, telehealth, and virtual care are growing aspects of healthcare delivery.
- Consumer behaviors and expectations are shifting towards more convenient digital access to services like healthcare.
- New technologies now allow for continuous monitoring of patients and real-time data sharing between providers and patients.
5-hydroxytryptamine or 5-HT or Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that serves a range of roles in the human body. It is sometimes referred to as the happy chemical since it promotes overall well-being and happiness.
It is mostly found in the brain, intestines, and blood platelets.
5-HT is utilised to transport messages between nerve cells, is known to be involved in smooth muscle contraction, and adds to overall well-being and pleasure, among other benefits. 5-HT regulates the body's sleep-wake cycles and internal clock by acting as a precursor to melatonin.
It is hypothesised to regulate hunger, emotions, motor, cognitive, and autonomic processes.

The biomechanics of running involves the study of the mechanical principles underlying running movements. It includes the analysis of the running gait cycle, which consists of the stance phase (foot contact to push-off) and the swing phase (foot lift-off to next contact). Key aspects include kinematics (joint angles and movements, stride length and frequency) and kinetics (forces involved in running, including ground reaction and muscle forces). Understanding these factors helps in improving running performance, optimizing technique, and preventing injuries.

This presentation gives information on the pharmacology of Prostaglandins, Thromboxanes and Leukotrienes i.e. Eicosanoids. Eicosanoids are signaling molecules derived from polyunsaturated fatty acids like arachidonic acid. They are involved in complex control over inflammation, immunity, and the central nervous system. Eicosanoids are synthesized through the enzymatic oxidation of fatty acids by cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes. They have short half-lives and act locally through autocrine and paracrine signaling.
