The University of Tennessee's Office of Sustainability received recognition from two organizations for its green efforts. It was awarded a STARS Silver rating by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education for programs like Zero Waste Game Days and engaging students in sustainability. The university was also recognized by the EPA as the top green power user in the Southeastern Conference for purchasing over 91 million kWh of renewable energy in the 2015-2016 year. The sustainability manager said these achievements affirm that the campus's sustainability efforts are working and leading the region.
