standardized testing in a preschool setting.
Standardized testing is best described as a test that is made by individuals that put together tests to see
what students know for their age group and compile the results afterwards for teachers and students to
go over and discuss. “Standardized testing can be thoughtful of as tests developed by people familiar
with test construction and as more formal assessment devices than authentic assessments. This forum of
assessment can be useful when used in isolation it is not particularly informative.” (Decker, Decker,
Freeman & Knopf pg. 290)
I for one am personally against standardized testing I feel the only purpose it serves is to see where
children are at academically. Standardized testing in preschoolers is not the best route to go.
