 Acts as role model and mentor to fellow nursing staff.
 Provide professional leadership and the maintenance of clinical standards.
 To liaise with other departments as necessary to ensure appropriate and timely interventions
for patients and for discharge planning
 To give clear and consistent handover report to all relevant staff at end of shift.
 Doing all the procedures and treatments to patients according to the HAAD policy
 Safely administer medications according to hospital policies and procedures.
 Accountable and responsible for the monitoring, replacement and administration of High alert
drugs and controlled drugs.
 Ensure that all nursing documentation is complete and is compliant with hospital policies and
procedures.

 Monitor and evaluate unit operation and services in order to correct problems, improve systems
and ensure safe quality care.
 Participate in interdisciplinary teams and Performance Improvement Projects for Evaluation
and improvement of clinical practice.
 Ensure all nurses on the unit know their responsibilities in an Emergency Response Situation,
and are delegated appropriately.
 Ensures requirements of the 'monthly compliance checklist' are completed, including opening of
crash cart transport boxes, procedure trolleys, refrigerator temperatures.
 Room safety checks are completed each shift
 Store rooms are clean with the appropriate quantity of consumables Correctly stored
 Point of care equipment quality control is completed
 Comply with the hospital's Infection Control policies and procedures
 Complete an Occurrence Variance Report (OVR) in a timely manner according to Hospital
policy
- Assessment, Planning, Implementation and evaluation of the nursing care requirements of their
allocated patients.
- Share professional knowledge and skills with all colleagues.
- Demonstrate nursing procedures and supervise junior nurses and student nurses, and Para-nursing
staff.
- Organization and management of nursing care.
