Thomas Jefferson was born in Virginia to Peter and Jane Jefferson and had 9 siblings. He is notable for writing the Declaration of Independence in 1776, serving as governor of Virginia from 1779-1781 and as vice president from 1797-1801, and sending Lewis and Clark on their western expedition. Jefferson died on July 4, 1826.
