…the whole worlddepends upon a woman’s thoughts. I
may well tell you, for when a woman does not have proper
intent, she corrupts her children and the world’s
foundations…

.אAnd therefore we must unfortunately suffer in the
Diaspora and our bodies and possessions are consumed.
And who is responsible for this? The woman when she
does not want to bethink herself properly, and when she,
God forbid, is not mindful of God’s commandments.

Introduction of Printer, Gershom ben Bezalel Katz:
Who has ever heard of or seen such a novelty; has it ever
happened in countless years, that a woman has written
something of her own accord? And she has read numerous
verses and midrashim. I let it therefore be printed, so that
every woman who wishes to read it can buy and possess a
copy. (She) named the book Meneket Rivkah to be a
commemoration for herself, and in honor of all women. It
shows that a woman can also compose words of ethical
instruction and good biblical interpretations as well as
many men.

The Gemara goes on, “Blessing is only found in a man’s
house due to his wife, as it says…blessing is in a man’s
house due to his wife’s merits”
When she sees him do something improper, she should
disallow it, because a pious wife makes her husband pious.
She should discuss everything with him amicably, and he
will certainly obey her, and she him…They will merit
having children who will be Torah scholars…[God] loves
when a marriage is sustained in love and affection…

My Master … told me that … in the
Baraita de-Niddah … he saw many
severe practices. In short, every strict
practice that a man may keep in
regard to the niddah he should keep,
and he will be blessed for that.
Or Zarua (1:360) 13th c.
As our Masters said in the Baraita
of the tractate of Niddah, “A
disciple must not greet a niddah.
Rabbi Nehemiah said that even
what goes out of her mouth is
impure. Rabbi Yohanan says that
one must not walk after a niddah
and crush the earth on which she
walked, as it is impure like a
corpse. It is also forbidden to
profit from whatever she makes
with her hands.”

Women and Synagogue
That which is done in most places, that the woman sits in
the synagogue among the men, and the infant is
circumcised while held in her bosom does not seem to
me at all a proper custom, even if her husband or her
father or her son is the mohel. For it is improper for a
woman to come in, elaborately adorned, among the men
and in the presence of the Shekhinah
Meir of Rothenburg, Responsa, 149
