Dissertation Defense: Planning Support Systems for Spatial Planning Through S...Robert Goodspeed
Robert Goodspeed defended his dissertation on planning support systems for spatial planning through social learning. His dissertation examined how spatial planning support systems contribute to social learning in participatory workshops. Goodspeed studied workshops in Boston and Austin that used different tools, such as computer models and paper maps, to understand what factors facilitated single and double loop learning among participants. He also looked at how metropolitan regions develop infrastructure to support social learning in spatial planning over time. The dissertation provided insights into how technology and tools are used in planning practice and opportunities to enhance learning.
This presentations covers what it takes to create a basic podcast, encode it correctly, publish it to the web, and get it listed in the iTunes directory. We talked about recording equipment, editing software for the Mac and Windows, the workflow to produce a podcast, and what you need to make your podcast compatible with the widest variety of playback devices.
The audience for this session is those who don't have any real recording or broadcasting background but are looking for ways to spread the word about their organization or cause. No special skills are required and I recommend the use of as many free and/or open source tools as possible to keep costs to a minimum.
This presentation was delivered at BarCampCHS in Charleston, SC on November 13, 2010.
Jan Simons (UvA) over call Reflective 6 van Horizon 2020Media Perspectives
This document discusses potential projects for the Horizon2020 Reflective 6 call on innovation ecosystems of digital cultural assets. It describes four potential projects:
1. Augmenting Masterpieces, which would develop interfaces between the physical and digital collections of the Rijksmuseum to augment visitors' experiences.
2. Modeling Crowdsourcing for Cultural Heritage (M.O.C.C.A.), which would analyze crowdsourcing projects to develop a model for determining when and how crowdsourcing is appropriate.
3. Concert 3.0, a collaboration with the Royal Concertgebouw aiming to enhance the classical music concert experience through digital technologies.
4. #Hooked,

Geographic Information Systems and Social Learning in Participatory Spatial P...Robert Goodspeed
The document discusses a dissertation proposal on how geographic information systems (GIS) and social learning theories apply to participatory spatial planning processes. The proposal will examine how participants' views change with and without the use of GIS tools in workshops, and how the tools may affect discussion. It will also consider how knowledge from such processes continues beyond them. The proposal outlines theories of social learning at the individual, group, and societal levels to frame the research. It conceptualizes spatial planning as involving multiple rationalities in negotiating consensus plans.

The document discusses process tracking using SAP Process Observer. Process tracking allows end-to-end monitoring of a process as it touches different technical systems and organizational units. It answers questions about a process' status, progress, handling times, and more. The SAP Process Observer is used to create process definitions and generate events for each activity. Rules determine which events map to which process steps. Visualizations and dashboards are created using SAP Web Dynpro and Core Data Services (CDS) to allow interactive analysis of process data without custom ABAP coding.
