People want to build eco-friendly buildings for various reasons: to help the environment, save money, and have a warm, safe, and healthy home. Some new advances in eco-buildings include using solar power, wind turbines, double-glazed windows, insulation, and natural materials like untreated timber and eco-friendly paints. Common questions around eco-buildings are who builds them, what people want their functions to be, and what materials are required.
The document categorizes countries into 8 groups based on population, capital city, and GDP per capita. It provides statistics for a total of 28 countries, with populations ranging from over 300 million (USA) to under 3 million (Uruguay). The countries fall into high-income countries (HIC), middle-income countries (MIC), and low-income countries (LIC) based on GDP per capita, with most having GDPs between $1000-40,000.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help boost feelings of calmness, happiness and focus.
A Precise Handheld Injection Device for Cardiac Interventions paperkcmurphy3
This is the final paper for my spring 2010 design team. We worked with our client, Amish Raval, who is a cardiologist at the University of Wisconsin Hospital. Dr. Raval is researching the possibility of using stem cells to restore function to cardiac muscle after myocardial infarction. He came to us with the problem of creating a more consistent trial environment for his study. He currently injects the stem cells into animals with a syringe by hand. However, results are not completely reliable due to human variability in injecting a 200uL injection over 30s. Thus he asked us to produce a device that would be able to hold the syringe and catheter that he currently uses and create an injection at a constant pressure to increase cell viability.
The document discusses the rise of smart and intelligent buildings and the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in enabling user engagement. It defines smart buildings as those that integrate systems to effectively manage resources and maximize technical performance, costs savings, and flexibility. However, critics argue that buildings are often designed with a techno-centric focus rather than prioritizing user goals. The document suggests that innovation is needed in tools that offer increased user participation and collaboration in building management. It questions whether providing users with more information will change their behaviors and if users want greater control of their buildings. Further research is needed to apply themes of co-creation and participation within the built environment.

FLAT is a levelling and stabilizing technology developed by an Australian company. It uses a system of interconnected actuators that communicate via tubes to instantly adjust tables and keep them level on uneven surfaces. It has won several awards and been tested independently. Case studies show it saves time and money for restaurants by keeping tables stable without needing adjustment. The technology is planned to be used in other products beyond hospitality table bases.
The Alliance for American Quilts is a national nonprofit that documents, preserves and shares the rich history of quilts and quiltmakers. Join us online at www.AllianceforAmericanQuilts.org

This document describes IPRStats, a visualization tool for InterProScan results. IPRStats allows users to view summaries and charts of protein domain annotations from InterProScan. It imports InterProScan XML files, generates statistics and taxonomy summaries, and exports results as HTML or Excel files. IPRStats uses a wxPython GUI, SQLite or PyTables for data storage, and generates pie charts, bar graphs and other visualizations of the annotation data.
