I4MS 2015: Enhancing digital transformation in manufacturing SMEs
I4MS 2015 will explore the progress achieved by the I4MS initiative and the impact participation has had on SMEs.
To date I4MS has achieved over 80% industrial participation. An initial participation of 80 SMEs has now grown to 150 as momentum continues to build. Success is also evident with SME participation in projects leading to the adaption of new technologies and approaches. I4MS phase two will take this success further through additional projects supported by a budget of approximately EUR 35 Mn.
At I4MS 2015 participating SMEs will present their experiences, results achieved and impact made. They will explain how they have benefited and what the adaption of innovative ICT has meant for their business. European support does not just exist at EU level.
Action at regional level supported through programmes such as Smart Specialisation present the good opportunity to reach out to and involve the diverse landscape of European SMEs. At I4MS 2015 participants will be introduced to a new activity designed for such outreach – digital innovation competence centres – and an outlook towards the next stage of I4MS.
I4MS is a EUR 77 Mn initiative of the 'Factories of the Future' partnership designed to support the adaption of innovative ICT by SMEs. Through seven integrated projects in four key areas, I4MS brings manufacturing SMEs directly into research and innovation projects, introducing them to innovative technologies and supporting the adoption of such technologies.
The document describes the physical features of two different men. The first man has a triangular face, bald patch, brown hair, thin lips, back teeth, thick arched eyebrows, deep set small eyes, and a bulbus big nose. The second man has an oval face, short gray hair, arched eyebrows, green bulging eyes, a pug nose, and asimetric lips and elongated ears. Both descriptions are used to describe men using adjectives of physical appearance.

The document summarizes Mazars Greece's transparency report for 2014-2015. It provides details on Mazars' global structure as an integrated partnership operating in 74 countries, and Mazars Greece's position within this as the Greek member entity. It also outlines Mazars Greece's leadership and governance structure, with a focus on audit quality, independence, and developing staff.
This document discusses steps that can be taken to prevent breast cancer, including maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle. It notes that while some risk factors cannot be changed, lifestyle factors like being overweight, lack of exercise, smoking, alcohol consumption and an unhealthy diet can potentially trigger or promote breast cancer. Two studies discussed found that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in starchy carbohydrates may help prevent and reduce recurrence of breast cancer. The document also suggests that consuming high-fat foods during puberty may increase the risk of developing more aggressive breast cancer at a younger age. Maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle is emphasized as an important way to prevent breast cancer.
Webinar on Fortissimo: Call for Proposals for HPC-Cloud Application Experiments
This call for proposals seeks to broaden the portfolio of application experiments currently being carried out within Fortissimo focusing on simulation services for the benefit of manufacturing SMEs.
The document discusses several qualities of Prophetic leadership demonstrated by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It discusses his ethics, vision, strategy, communication skills, promotion of equality, courage, determination, emphasis on mutual consultation and unity, and ensuring justice and compassion. The Prophet's demonstration of these transformational leadership values through his words and actions established an exemplary Islamic leadership model based on principles from the Quran and his teachings and practices.
1) The document is a chemistry project submitted by Iman Ali about reducing CO2 emissions from power generation through renewable and CO2-free technologies.
2) It discusses that while CO2 is important for plant growth, increased CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion are contributing to global warming.
3) The project then outlines various renewable energy sources like solar, hydro, wind, geothermal, and biomass that can help reduce CO2 emissions compared to fossil fuel power generation.
This document summarizes a project aimed at developing a compact laser diode module for locally heating ultra high strength steel during forming to improve the forming process. The project involved an SME manufacturer of laser diodes, Monocrom, partnering with other organizations to develop a customized laser diode package for industrial materials processing. Through the I4MS program, Monocrom received support in the form of matching their technology to customer needs, accelerating product development, and testing a prototype which reduced risks for both the customer and supplier. Going forward, Monocrom plans to further develop the integrated laser diode package and enter the market, creating new jobs and sales.
Race to the Top was established in July 2009 by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act under President Obama. It aims to spur education reform through competitive grants to states. Some groups opposed it like conservatives and teachers' unions. It remains controversial due to ongoing modifications and a focus on early education. The Department of Education oversees the $4.35 billion program, which is more than initially expected. States apply for phase 1 grants to fund reforms to improve student achievement and competitiveness.

After completing the initial year, I4MS has hosted its first public international event on 18th June in Berlin, in cooperation with the launch of the German manufacturing programme, Autonomik für Industrie 4.0". I4MS has brought together more than 150 professionals from industry and innovation, who have attended to several presentations about what has been achieved by I4MS and further funding opportunities for SMEs and middle size corporates (mid-caps) under the Initiative.
The event signified the importance of SMEs in Europes manufacturing industry and their role in the reindustrialisation process for Europe. At a glance: SMEs are providers of around 45% of manufacturing added value and roughly 59% of employment in the manufacturing sector.

This document discusses Nanotypos, a company that uses roll-to-roll nanoimprint lithography to create large area functional surfaces. Nanotypos aims to transfer novel ideas and prototype devices from the lab to medium-to-high volume production while keeping costs moderate. The company has four business units and a pilot manufacturing line in Thessaloniki, Greece. It is developing techniques like seamless cylinder fabrication and laser machining to further scale up nanoimprint lithography for commercial applications.

The document summarizes a project called LASHARE that developed an ultrafast laser to improve the coin manufacturing process. The laser allowed for faster and higher quality engraving of embossing tools without thermal effects. This led to the production of over 500 coins with unique visual effects in just over 3 hours, compared to over 24 hours previously. The I4MS funding scheme helped the partners, including a laser manufacturer, technology center, and coin mint, collaborate to develop this innovation and create new products and jobs.
