This paper investigates the influence of helicopter rotor wake modeling on blade airload predictions. A vortex element method is used to compute the free vortex wake geometry and rotor airloads. Various models for vortex core structure, vorticity diffusion, and vortex straining are tested to assess their impact on airload prediction. Empirical factors in vorticity diffusion models are evaluated. Comparisons with wind tunnel data show the benefit of using multiple trailing vortex lines behind the blade span rather than isolated lines or sheets, despite the higher computational cost. Accurately modeling viscous effects like vortex core formation and diffusion is important for reliable wake representation and induced velocity calculations, especially at large wake ages.

최근 딥러닝을 이용한 방법은 다양한 음성 인식 과제에서 괄목할 만한 성과를 내고 있습니다. 특히 Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)을 이용한 방식은 지역적인 특징 (local feature)들을 효과적으로 잡아낼 수 있기 때문에 비교적 짧은 시간 의존도를 가지는 음성 키워드 인식이나 음소 단위 인식과 같은 과제들에서 활발히 사용되고 있습니다. 그러나 CNN은 낮은 레벨의 특징들 간의 공간적 관계성을 고려하지 않는다는 한계점이 있습니다. 이를 극복하기 위해 캡슐 네트워크 구조를 도입하여 음성 스펙트로그램에서 추출된 특징들의 공간적 관계성을 고려하고자 하였습니다. 구글 음성 단어 데이터셋에서 CNN과 그 성능을 비교해 보았으며, 깨끗한 환경과 잡음 환경 모두에서 주목할만한 성능 향상을 이끌어 냈습니다.

This presentation is talk about how to use the databases that constitute the electronic sources of knowledge in medicine and the health sciences, demonstrating and discussing at the same time the features of the various products and their users.

This document summarizes a Monte Carlo study using GATE simulation of a Siemens Biograph DUO PET/CT scanner. It investigates the impact of detector thickness on imaging characteristics by simulating the scanner with LSO detectors of 2cm and 3cm thickness. The results show that increasing thickness from 2cm to 3cm improves detection efficiency, resulting in a sharper energy peak at 511 keV, higher counts, and better energy resolution and signal-to-noise ratio. However, thicker detectors may also delay signal processing and increase device cost and complexity.

3) Automating cloud infrastructure provisioning and workload management through tools like Chef allows researchers to easily create large supercomputer clusters of tens of thousands of cores on demand for a fraction of the cost of traditional HPC systems.

Mutation Testing for Task-Oriented Chatbots
Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.

Currently, there is a growing demand for standardization and interoperability in energy data and modeling. Open source standards and specifications within the energy sector can also alleviate challenges associated with data fragmentation, transparency, and accessibility. At the same time, it is crucial to consider privacy and security concerns throughout the development of open source platforms.
This webinar will delve into the motivations behind establishing LF Energy’s Carbon Data Specification Consortium. It will provide an overview of the draft specifications and the ongoing progress made by the respective working groups.
Three primary specifications will be discussed:
-Discovery and client registration, emphasizing transparent processes and secure and private access
-Customer data, centering around customer tariffs, bills, energy usage, and full consumption disclosure
-Power systems data, focusing on grid data, inclusive of transmission and distribution networks, generation, intergrid power flows, and market settlement data

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.

How information systems are built or acquired puts information, which is what they should be about, in a secondary place. Our language adapted accordingly, and we no longer talk about information systems but applications. Applications evolved in a way to break data into diverse fragments, tightly coupled with applications and expensive to integrate. The result is technical debt, which is re-paid by taking even bigger "loans", resulting in an ever-increasing technical debt. Software engineering and procurement practices work in sync with market forces to maintain this trend. This talk demonstrates how natural this situation is. The question is: can something be done to reverse the trend?
