Aim & Objectives of Sports
• Physical Development :- Development of our organ system such as
circulatory system, respiratory system, nervous system, muscular system

• Neuro-Muscular Coordination:- the ability of the nervous system to
efficiently recruit a muscle or a group of muscles in order to perform a
specific task unconsciously. Sports provides ample opportunities for
physical neuromuscular coordination
• Emotional Development:- Exercise promotes chemicals in the brain that
improve your mood and make you more relaxed. Specifically, the brain
releases feel-good chemicals throughout the body. Physical activity
reduces anxiety and depressed mood, and enhances self-esteem

Chacha Nehru Sports Award
Students shall be selected on the basis of his/her performance in
National level in CBSE sports competition. There are 50 scholarships
every year at rate of Rs. 500/month for the students of class IXth to
XII th who shows apex performance at national level in various
disciplines of CBSE inter school sports and games.
Khelo India Programme
It is the NATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR DEVELOPMENT OF
SPORTS. Talented players identified in priority sports
disciplines at various levels by the High-Powered Committee
will be provided annual financial assistance of INR 5 lakh per
annum for 8 years. Under-17 athletes have been invited to
participate across 16 disciplines, which are as follows:
Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football,
Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Shooting,
Swimming, Volleyball, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.

For Admission in Universities
DU Admission
DU offers provision for a young sportsperson to apply through
sports quota seats. Admissions are done either directly or on
the basis of sports trials once the candidate has filled the DU
application form.
DU Sports Quota Selection Process
• DU gives 40% weightage to the sports certificate and 60%
weightage to the sports trials of the game for which the
candidate has received the certificate.
• The sports trial will include Sport Specific Fitness, Overall
Playing Ability and Fundamental Skills.
• Marks for the sports trial will be awarded out of 60 and
candidates will have to score at least 30 marks (i.e. 50%) in
order to qualify for admission through the sports quota.
• Candidates applying for the sports quota must also be
eligible on the basis of age to participate in inter-university
competitions of DU for the next three years of their course
duration.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR RECRUITMENT OF SPORTS PERSONS ON INDIAN
RAILWAYS- SPORTS QUOTA
Railway Board have decided to revise the existing instructions as
contained in Railway Board's letter No.E(Sports)2000/Policy/2 dated
19.6.2000 for recruitment of sports persons, sports quota, norms and
procedure for recruitment to sports persons of Indian Railways.
2. SPORTS QUOTA
2.1 Recruitment of sportspersons, both in Group-C and Group-D,
shall be done through Talent Scouting and Open Advertisement. 60%
of the total quota, including the share of Railway Sports Promotion
Board (RSPB), shall be through Talent Scouting and balance 40% shall
be filled up by Open Advertisement. Distribution of quota amongst
Zonal Railways, Production Units, RSPB and Workshops having staff
strength of 4000 or more
10. MINIMUM NORMS FOR RECRUITMENT OF SPORTSPERSONS IN INDIAN RAILWAYS
The minimum norms for recruitment of sportspersons against sports quota, both through Talent Scouting and Open
Advertisement, shall be as under:
Minimum norms for Recruitment in Group-C :
Sportsperson who has any of the following sports achievement in any of the games mentioned
• Represented the country in the International Championship as mentioned in Category-A & B under Para 3 above.
OR
• Represented State or equivalent Unit, in Junior/Senior National Championship and obtained at least 3rd Position.
OR
• Represented a University, in All India Inter-University Championship organised under the aegis of Association of Indian
Universities and obtained at least 2nd Position.
OR
• Represented State or equivalent Unit in the Federation Cup Championship and obtained 1st Position.
Minimum norms for Recruitment in Group-D :
Sportsperson who has any of the following sports achievement in any of the games mentioned
• Represented State or equivalent Unit, except in Marathon and Cross Country in Junior/Senior National Championship.
OR
• Represented a University, in All India Inter-University Championship organised under the aegis of Association of Indian
Universities and obtained at least 3rd Position.
OR
• Represented District or equivalent Unit in Junior/Senior State Championship and obtained atleast 3rd Position.
