2. Introduction
 As the senior human resources project manager for
the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, Brent Kreller
guides initiatives involving employee benefits. On the
job for three years, Brent Kreller intends to have a
long career in human resources management.
In his spare time, Kreller enjoys several sports,
including spongee hockey, a favorite in the Winnipeg
area. The game was established 30 years ago by
John Robertson, who advocated a safer, non-contact
version of hockey.
Spongee hockey is similar to ice hockey, except that
players wear shoes instead of skates and use a puck
made of sponge, not rubber.

3. Spongee Hockey
 Because the game is meant to be fun and informal,
body checking and other kinds of contact are
disallowed.
In particular, fighting and other actions that may injure
players are prohibited. Players charged with fighting
are ejected from the game, and their team is
penalized for six minutes. In addition, the opposing
team gets a penalty shot.
For the safety of players, protective equipment is
strongly suggested. Goaltenders should wear a
standard mask; other players should have eyewear
and helmets.
