Proverbs 21:1 (New International Version)
   1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD;
he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.
Isaiah 40:21-24 (New International Version)
 Do you not know?
      21Have you not heard?
Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth
    was founded?

 22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like
grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

 23 He brings princes to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

 24 No sooner are they planted,
        no sooner are they sown,
no sooner do they take root in the ground,
than he blows on them and they wither,
and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.
Acts 17:26 (New International Version)
   26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth;
and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.

               Lord’s control of people
Genesis 45:4-8 (New International Version)
 4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Come close to me." When they had done
so, he said, "I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5 And
now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me
here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. 6 For two
years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there
will not be plowing and reaping. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve
for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. [a]
 8 "So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to
Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.
    Genesis 50:19-20 (New International Version)
 19 But Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You
intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now
being done, the saving of many lives.
    Romans 8:28 (New International Version)
    More than Conquerors
 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love
him,[a] who[b] have been called according to his purpose.

God controls and uses even difficult circumstances for good in
the life of a godly person
Psalm 34:9-10 (New International Version)
 9 Fear the LORD, you his saints,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
    Matthew 6:31-33 (New International Version)
 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we
drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all
these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need
them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all
these things will be given to you as well.

    Philippians 4:19 (New International Version)
 19And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious
    riches in Christ Jesus.

What has the Lord promises about meeting your needs?
1 Corinthians 4:2 (New International Version)

 2Now it is required that those who have
been given a trust must prove faithful.

          Your requirement as a steward
Luke 16:1-2 (New International Version)
 1Jesus told his disciples: "There was a rich man whose manager
was accused of wasting his possessions. 2So he called him in and
asked him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an account of
your management, because you cannot be manager any longer.'
    Luke 16:10 (New International Version)

                                 God’s Discipline
Daniel 4:34-35 (New International Version)
 34 At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my
eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I
praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who
    lives forever.
          His dominion is an eternal dominion;
his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
 35 All the peoples of the earth
          are regarded as nothing.
          He does as he pleases
          with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: "What have you done?"

                                       Control:
Isaiah 45:6-7 (New International Version)
 6 so that from the rising of the sun
to the place of its setting
men may know there is none besides me.
I am the LORD, and there is no other.
 7 I form the light and create darkness,
           I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the LORD, do all these things.
    Romans 8:28 (New International Version)
    More Than Conquerors
 28And we know that in all things God works for
the good of those who love him,[a] who[b] have
been called according to his purpose.

                                       Control:
Genesis 45:5 (New International Version)
 5And now, do not be distressed and do not be
angry with yourselves for selling me
here, because it was to save lives that God sent
    me ahead of you.
    Genesis 45:8 (New International Version)
 8"So then, it was not you who sent me here, but
God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his
entire household and ruler of all Egypt.
    Genesis 50:20 (New International Version)
 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it
for good to accomplish what is now being
done, the saving of many lives.

    He Accomplishes His Intentions:
Romans 5:3-4 (New International Version)

 3Not only so, but we[a] also rejoice in our
    sufferings, because we know that
    suffering produces perseverance;
    4perseverance, character; and
    character, hope.

         He Develops Our Character:
Hebrews 12:6 (New International Version)

 6because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a
    son."
    Hebrews 12:10-11 (New International Version)

 10Our fathers disciplined us for a little while
as they thought best; but God disciplines us
for our good, that we may share in his
holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at
the time, but painful. Later on, however, it
produces a harvest of righteousness and
peace for those who have been trained by it.

          He Disciplines his Children:
Matthew 6:33 (New International Version)

 33But seek first his kingdom and his
righteousness, and all these things will be
    given to you as well.
1 Kings 17:4 (New International Version)

 4 You will drink from the brook, and I have
ordered the ravens to feed you there."
1 Kings 17:6 (New International Version)

 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in
the morning and bread and meat in the
evening, and he drank from the brook.

                     God is the Provider
1 Timothy 6:8 (New International Version)

 8But if we have food and clothing, we will
    be content with that.

    Philippians 4:19 (New International Version)

 19And my God will meet all your needs
according to his glorious riches in Christ
    Jesus.

The Lord instructs us to be content when our basic
                      needs are met
Isaiah 51:13 (New International Version)

 13 that you forget the LORD your Maker,
who stretched out the heavens and
laid the foundations of the earth, that you
live in constant terror every day because
of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent
on destruction? For where is the wrath of
    the oppressor?

                  Getting to Know God
He is Lord of the Universe
    Isaiah 40:26 (New International Version)

 26 Lift your eyes and look to the
heavens: Who created all these? He
who brings out the starry host one by
one, and calls them each by name.
Because of his great power and mighty
strength, not one of them is missing.

                         Getting to Know God
He is Lord of the Nations
Isaiah 40:15, 17 (New International Version)
    15 Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket;
            they are regarded as dust on the scales;
he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust.
    17 Before him all the nations are as nothing;
they are regarded by him as worthless
            and less than nothing.
    Acts 17:26 (New International Version)
 26From one man he made every nation of men, that they
should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the
times set for them and the exact places where they should
    live.

                    Getting to Know God
He is Lord of the Individual
Psalm 139:3-4, 16 (New International Version)

 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar
with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue
you know it completely, O LORD.
 16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
       were written in your book
before one of them came to be
    Matthew 10:30 (New International Version)
 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

    Jeremiah 32:17 (New International Version)

earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too
    hard for you.

                           Getting to Know God
Matthew 11:28-30 (New International Version)

 28"Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest. 29Take
my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I
am gentle and humble in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is
easy and my burden is light."God has
    assumed the burden of
ownership, control, and provision. For this
reason, His yoke is easy and we can rest and
    enjoy the peace of God.

                                  God’s part
1 Corinthians 4:2 (New International Version)

 2Now it is required that those who have been
given a trust must prove faithful. As we
begin to study our responsibilities, its
important to remember that God love and
cares for us deeply. He has given us the
principles because he wants the best for us.
Most people discover areas in which they
have no been faithful. Don’t be come
discourage. Simply seek to apply faithfully
    what you learn.

                                      Our part
We are to be faithful regardless of how much he entrust you with.

    Matthew 25:14-15 (New International Version)

 14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his
servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave
five talents[a] of money, to another two talents, and to another
one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his
    journey.

    Matthew 25:21 (New International Version)

 21"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You
have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of
many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

Be faithful with what you are given.
Hosea 4:6 (New International Version)

 6 my people are destroyed from lack of
    knowledge. "Because you have rejected

The Parable of the Shrewd Manager

 1Jesus told his disciples: "There was a rich man
whose manager was accused of wasting his
possessions. 2So he called him in and asked
him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an
account of your management, because you

Luke 16:10 (New International Version)

 10"Whoever can be trusted with very
little can also be trusted with much, and
whoever is dishonest with very little will
    also be dishonest with much.

         Faithfulness in Little Things
Luke 16:12 (New International Version)

 7 The rich rule over the poor, and the
borrower is servant to the lender.

                                            Debt
Deuteronomy 15:4-6 (New International Version)

 4 However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your
God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, 5 if
only you fully obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all these
commands I am giving you today. 6 For the LORD your God will bless you as
he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.
You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.
    Deuteronomy 28:1-2, 12

 1 If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I
give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on
earth. 2 All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey
the LORD your God, 12 The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his
bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your
hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.

Deuteronomy 28:15 (New International Version)

 15 However, if you do not obey the LORD your
God and do not carefully follow all his commands
and decrees I am giving you today, all these
curses will come upon you and overtake you
    Deuteronomy 28:43-45 (New International Version)

 43 The alien who lives among you will rise above
you higher and higher, but you will sink lower
and lower. 44 He will lend to you, but you will
not lend to him. He will be the head, but you will
    be the tail.

Romans 13:8 (New International Version)

Love, for the Day is Near
 8Let no debt remain outstanding, except the
continuing debt to love one another, for he
who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law.
    Proverbs 22:7 (New International Version)

 7 The rich rule over the poor, and the
borrower is servant to the lender.
1 Corinthians 7:23 (New International Version)

 23You were bought at a price; do not
    become slaves of men

                        Debt in Scripture:
Psalm 37:21 (New International Version)

 21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
         but the righteous give generously;
    Proverbs 3:27-28 (New International Version)

27 Do not withhold good from those who
deserve it, when it is in your power to act.
 28 Do not say to your neighbor, "Come
back later; I'll give it tomorrow"—when
you now have it with you.

2 Kings 4:1-4
The Widow's Oil

 1 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets
cried out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead, and
you know that he revered the LORD. But now his creditor is
coming to take my two boys as his slaves."
 2 Elisha replied to her, "How can I help you? Tell me, what
do you have in your house?"
"Your servant has nothing there at all," she
    said, "except a little oil."
 3 Elisha said, "Go around and ask all your neighbors for
empty jars. Don't ask for just a few. 4 Then go inside and
shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all
the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side."

2 Kings 4:5-7
The Widow's Oil

 5 She left him and afterward shut the door
behind her and her sons. They brought the jars
to her and she kept pouring. 6 When all the jars
were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another
  one."
But he replied, "There is not a jar left." Then
  the oil stopped flowing.
 7 She went and told the man of God, and he
said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You
and your sons can live on what is left."
