Spiralite® Ducting from Specialist Insulation Ltd
What is it?
Pre-insulated, non-metal circular and flat oval
ducting, which is at least 80% lighter than traditional
steel ductwork and significantly more energy-
efficient. Highly sustainable, robust and quick to
install, it provides carbon and energy savings both
on installation and the subsequent operation of the
HVAC system.
How does it work?
Spiralite® ducting was developed in response to the
shortcomings of traditional galvanised steel ducting,
which is heavy, difficult to transport and install,
needs subsequent lagging (insulation), often leaks
badly and is highly energy inefficient.
The flat oval and circular ducts are fabricated
using high density closed cell zero-ODP phenolic
insulation boards and an internal laminate, making
them airtight and highly pressure-resistant, with
enhanced airflow capabilities.
Using a innovative and patented fabrication process,
the insulation boards are machine routed and
sandwiched between foil laminates, which fold into
the routs as the boards are turned into duct pipe.
This creates a continuous vapour-proof barrier,
allowing minimal air leakage or thermal loss.
