MyPreOp® is one of the products in the Ultraprep suite and is used in the preparation of a patient for an operation where an anaesthetist is going to be present.
Patients create an Ultramed account using their personal details and unique NHS number, then complete a comprehensive assessment via a user-friendly interface. Once patients have completed MyPreOp, they share their data with the healthcare provider performing the operation, generating a detailed digital output and a ‘Clinical Summary’ report. This information is then reviewed by a registered nurse or a qualified member from the preoperative assessment team.
These slides were presented at Wessex Health Innovation Fourm: Southampton on 16th May 2017.

WHAT? Within our industry the personal health effects of noise and vibration are well known and should now be embedded in your Company Health and safety arrangements. Noise and vibration emissions can disturb local residents and give rise to complaints and delays.
Silo explodes at ready-mix plant...The top (cap) of the silo was thrown into the air, across a road, landing in an adjacent property. Fortunately, no injuries occurred as a result of this incident.
Dust and emissions, such as the recent publicity in the national press relating to the health hazards of particulates in diesel powered vehicles exhaust emissions, can cause health risks and odours at high concentrations may annoy neighbours and those affected by our activities.
Oxygen is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas and makes up to 21% of the air we breathe, it has a relative density of 1.1 which means it is slightly heavier than air.
Oils, greases, solvents and PTFE tape may react violently with oxygen. You should never use oil or grease to lubricate oxygen or oxygen enriched equipment as they can spontaneously burn with explosive violence.
Lifting and rigging operations are some of the most hazardous activities we regularly undertake, day in day out. The consequences of something going wrong during a lifting or rigging operation can literally be fatal.
TOOLBOX TALK | safe use of lift trucks and telehandlersAlan Bassett
Lift trucks are widely used throughout industry for moving materials and goods, but they also feature prominently in workplace accidents. Even an incident not causing injury may result in costly damage to lift trucks, buildings, fittings and the goods being handled.
Last year in the UK 40 people died and nearly 43,000 reported non fatal injuries as a result of a fall from height in the workplace. Falls from height are the most common cause of fatal injury and the second most common cause of major injury to employees, accounting for around 15% of all such injuries...
During December the monthly average number of fires, injuries and fatalities more than doubles in households across the UK.

1. SPIE WHS
40 Consecutive Years
British Safety Council – International Safety Award
SPIE WHS (formally EI.WHS) are delighted to announce that they have been successful in achieving the
British Safety Council International Safety Award for the 40th consecutive year, the longest run of any
company in the UK.
Originally founded in Teesside in 1927 as A. Anderson & Son, the company has developed through
structural change and acquisition before becoming EI.WHS. In September 2009 EI.WHS joined SPIE,
European leaders in electrical, mechanical and HVAC engineering, energy and communications systems;
now re-branded as SPIE WHS, the “Industry’s Choice” company work alongside SPIE Matthew Hall,
offering services to the UK market.
As a major Electrical and Instrumentation contractor specialising in the industrial market, SPIE WHS has
a natural exposure to many of the “high risks” of construction and takes these matters very seriously. The
company works across a number of heavy industry sectors including chemical, petrochemical, steel, oil,
gas, water and power.
A positive Health and Safety culture has always been considered fundamental for the environments in
which we work and everyone understands its importance to our employees, our clients and to our future.
The International Safety Award was first achieved before the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 which we
believe is testament to the fact that good Health and Safety practice was being exercised long before
many other companies were even thinking about it.
We believe that the development and sharing of best practice is essential in our commitment for continual
improvement and that active participation in NESHEP over the years since its inception has been the
biggest vehicle for providing this. The partnership comprises of a group of over 60 contractors of various
disciplines who provide services to clients in the North East and who are committed to the promotion and
maintenance of excellence in safety, health and environmental management and performance. The
common belief amongst members is that accidents are preventable and that by sharing best practice we
will help to keep our workforces safe and our client sites accident free.
We are extremely proud of this award and recognise that it would not have been possible without the
support and environments created by our Clients. We thank you for this and hope that we can continue to
build on these strong, successful relationships.
Health & Safety is a continuous journey; everyone at SPIE WHS is committed to maintain our high
standards regarding the Health and Safety of our employees, our clients and the public.
