This document describes a speed checker device for highways. The system uses two laser-light detector pairs installed 100m apart on opposite sides of the road. When a vehicle passes the first detector, a timer starts and an LED lights. If the vehicle passes the second detector before the time expected at the set speed limit, an alarm will sound. The time taken for the vehicle to pass between the detectors is displayed digitally to indicate the vehicle's speed. The system is intended to help highway traffic police enforce speed limits and provide a visual display of vehicles' speeds.
