Day 1 includes visiting the historic walled city of Girona and the coastal town of Sant Pol de Mar. Day 2 focuses on iconic sites in Barcelona like Sagrada Familia basilica, La Rambla promenade, and La Boqueria market. Day 3 takes travelers to the Benedictine abbey and Virgin Mary shrine at Montserrat, including views of Catalonia. The final day allows for exploring Sant Pol de Mar's local culture before departing. DAY 1
Girona - Sant Pol de Mar
Girona is a city in the northeast of Spain on the Costa Brava, near the French border. It is a beautiful city
where you get a real feeling for its history just by walking through its ancient streets. It’s a walled city
which dates back to the Roman period, the old quarter is located within the city walls. There is a well
known stretch of houses, built in the 19th century, which make up the part of the city wall destroyed by
the French in 1807 while the city was under siege.
San Pol de Mar’s white houses are covering the hills by the Mediterranean, surrounding the church of Sant
Pau. The old Benedictine monastery gave rise to this town, which was named after it. At its wide beaches,
the visitor may enjoy the excellent Catalan coastal temperatures, as well as play a variety of water sports
and try the delicious regional cuisine. Old fisherman's houses are located next to the 11th-century church
of Sant Pau, which has some sections from the 6th and 10th centuries.
DAY 2
Barcelona
The Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family, commonly known as the Sagrada Família, is a large
Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Although incomplete, the
church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and in November 2010 was consecrated and proclaimed a minor
basilica by Pope Benedict XVI. It is probably impossible to find a church building anything like it in the
entire history of art!
La Rambla is a street in central Barcelona, popular with tourists and locals alike. A tree-lined pedestrian
mall, it stretches for 1.2 kilometers between Barri Gòtic and El Raval, connecting Plaça de Catalunya in the
centre with the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell. The promenade is crowded during the day
and until late in the night. It is full of kiosks that sell newspapers and souvenirs, flowers and birds, street
performers, cafes, restaurants and shops.
The Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, often simply referred to as La Boqueria, is a large public market
in the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona and one of the city's foremost tourist landmarks, with an entrance
from La Rambla, not far from the Liceu, Barcelona's opera house. The market has a very diverse selection
of goods.
DAY 3
Montserrat - Vineyards
Santa Maria de Montserrat is a Benedictine abbey located on the mountain of Montserrat, in Monistrol de
Montserrat, in Catalonia. It hosts the Virgin of Montserrat, and the Publicacions de l'Abadia de Montserrat,
a publishing house, one of the oldest presses in the world still running, with its first book published in
1499.

2. Virgin of Montserrat (the black virgin), is Catalonia's favourite saint, and is located in the sanctuary of the
Mare de Déu de Montserrat, next to the Benedictine monastery nestling in the towers and crags of the
mountain. The Escolania, Montserrat’s Boys’ Choir, is one of the oldest in Europe, and performs during
religious ceremonies and communal prayers in the basilica. At 1236 metres (4055 ft) above the valley floor,
Montserrat is the highest point of the Catalan lowlands, and stands central to the most populated part of
Catalonia. The stone monolith is ideally located to play an important role in the cultural and spiritual life of
Catalonia.
The Basilica houses a museum with works of art by many prominent painters and sculptors including works
by El Greco, Dalí, Picasso and more. Montserrat's highest point, Sant Jeroni, can be reached by a footpath
from the top station of the funicular Sant Jeroni. From Sant Joan, almost all of Catalonia can be seen, and
on a clear day the island of Mallorca is visible.
DAY 4
Sant Pol de Mar
Exploring Sant Pol de Mar with local people – getting to know the local culture, living style, local cuisines...
Later time for late lunch or early dinner and transfer to the Airport at 5:00 pm.
