The document summarizes the Space Foundation's mission to develop the workforce for the growing space economy. It discusses how the space economy is expected to grow significantly in coming decades. However, it notes there are challenges around workforce shortages, skills deficits, and innovation gaps that need to be addressed. The Space Foundation introduces its new Center for Innovation and Education, which aims to create programs that provide inclusive and sustainable workforce training to enable diverse participation in the space sector. It outlines the Center's roadmap and details some initial pilot programs around entrepreneurship training and a junior space entrepreneur program that helped inspire students to pursue STEM careers.

WomenTech Global Conference 2020:
Advocating for women in space, Shelli will share her personal roadmap from a military start to her role leading the Center for Innovation and Education at Space Foundation. She will highlight key opportunities in space tech innovation:
Top technologies to watch in the space industry
1000’s of NASA space innovation patents waiting for commercialization
Space commerce entrepreneurship programs
Space tech transfer and insertion as a supplier to new space ventures
Becoming a supplier to commercial and government enterprises
Shelli will walk you through a pragmatic Workforce Development Roadmap, comprising five core disciplines, and valuable resources that can open the door to opportunities in the space economy.
Space – once considered the final frontier and only accessible to a select few – is now home to the most dynamic and innovative economy on the planet. And while not every person will get to ride on a rocket, see one lift off, or build a satellite or payload, everyone — students/teachers, young leaders, entrepreneurs, small businesses and professionals — can become contributors to the $415B and growing space economy.

The social, environmental, and economic impacts of educating and advancing skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are a strategic priority for many companies, governments, and NGOs. As you begin to build your STEM programs, how do you choose from so many excellent nonprofit partners? An effective partnership will provide a mutually beneficial partnership that enables both the business and the nonprofit to achieve their goals together.
In this interactive case study, Analog Devices will discuss the key points for choosing and engaging with nonprofit STEM partners as it shares its journey from a grass roots to regional sponsorship working with FIRST robotics. Please join us to learn more about how the company built a multi-platform approach to provide a successful partnership with FIRST robotics and created a robust program that benefited students, employees, and the community.

This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

7. Workforce Shortage:
• Open jobs exceed unemployed workers in space
industries.
• Baby boomers are retiring leaving large
employment gaps.
• Untapped workforces: minorities, women,
veterans, and retirees.
Skills Deficit:
• Perceptions of the space industry cannot be
limited to astronauts.
• Traditional education needs to integrate space
into daily core curriculum.
• A culture for lifelong learning, upskilling, and
reskilling must be adopted.
Innovation Gap:
• NASA patents await entrepreneurs to
commercialize (tech transfer).
• Enterprises rely on space-based technology
suppliers (tech insertion).
• Workforce diversity is a missing source of new
ideas.
