What does SOS do?
We seal high pressure steam, gas and acid leaks.
We seal basically any pressure piping that springs a leak. We
work while the leak is under maximum pressure and flow.
Why hire SOS?

Save Our Steam was been awarded a
[Minnesota] Governor’s Safety Award for superior
performance in workplace safety and health in May
2011. The award is notable because Save Our Steam
routinely works safely in hazardous conditions. The
company fixes high-pressure leaks in industrial steam,
gas and acid lines. “We always fix them,” said Jim
Carter, president and proprietor. “One hundred percent
of the time. That’s all we do.”

JIM CARTER started the company in 1987 as
a successor to a business that his father
launched in 1975. Since then SOS has
become well known and highly regarded for its work
—which is simple: SOS seals leaks under full-flow
conditions.
“Everybody has leaks,” Carter
says, “and nobody wants to
even think of shutting their
factory down. That’s why they
call us.”
The company’s clients have
included paper mills, oil
refineries, power plants,
municipal steam distribution
systems, agricultural refineries
and a wide variety of industrial
facilities.
The company originally worked
primarily in the upper Midwest
but now does business all over the U.S., with an
occasional venture outside the country.
SOS has a 100 percent success rate. The
company’s founder says, “As far as I know we are
the only people to have a successful method for
sealing leaking vessel manway doors, and we offer
maintenance systems for valve packing by
modifying the valves for injectable packing.”
The company also has a proud history of working
safely, with never a reportable injury.
Carter started out as a
pipefitter, having completed his
apprenticeship through the
United Association in 1974. In
1992-93, Carter was
instrumental in the setup and
training of a Leak Seal Class
for journeymen members of the
Pipefitters Union in Phoenix,
Arizona.
