A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Oklahoma City Ballet Choreography: Robert Mills
LD: Aaron Mooney
ALD: Amanda Miller
GENERAL:
-Line Set Schedule is still flexible, and will be discussed more as time passes.
-The music will be changing slightly as the production progresses. There will be
minor changes in the order of the songs and the volume of the music.
COSTUMES:
-The choreographer requests that LD look at Tatiana’s peach robe, used near the
end of the show. There is a small amount of green in this fabric and it is desired
that the green in the peach robe is highlighted, as her original costume is green
as well. Pictures of both the peach robe and the green dress can be seen below.
SCENIC:
-The rolling bed will be on casters. It is working well.
-There are no new props added to the production from last week’s meeting.
-Dry Ice fog will be occurring during Hermia’s solo search for the Lovers. The
choreographer wants this to be a slight effect, not something that covers the
entire floor.
-Haze will be revealed when the scrim is taken out and will continue throughout
the show.
-Progress has been made on the practical lamp. It will be a cell battery and a
manual toggle switch on the US of the lamp, secured.
-Costumes found a large black cloth labeled “Lovers,” It may be used on the floor
of the cave.
Production Meeting 3/29/17
LIGHTING:
- To assist in a transition near the end of the show, the choreographer requests
that the stage appears at the “darkest point of night.” At this moment, there are
two dancers US in their capes and the rest of the dancers are running around DS
with LED handlights. This is the moment where the child is handed to Puck. This
moment was discussed because there will be two “stand-in” dancers in the place
of the parents, though they will look as similar as possible to the actual
characters.
-20 hand LEDs have arrived and additional ones will be ordered. These will be
used on the hands of 8 “Critters” and 4 “Butterflies.” These are used near the
end of the show by dancers who are downstage when Puck receives the child
upstage. A picture of these hand lights can be seen below.
BLOCKING:
-There has been no decision on placement of Puck’s window. This can be either
SR or SL, the choreographer does not have a preference.
